The bright design of the box and mini magazine makes this box really appealing to my five-year-old.

All supplies came well organized within the box, making it really easy to see what you need to complete the activities every step of the way.

This is our second box from Kiwi Crate and based off our first box, my son and I were both thrilled to complete this arcade themed crate.  My husband and I subscribed my son to this box after previously reviewing one for Kiwi Crate.  Even though this was one of his Christmas gifts,  we kept putting off opening it until he had some time to enjoy his gifts from other family members first.  This weekend was a tad on the dreary side, so it was the perfect opportunity to sit down with him and dive into this marvelous box.

The Claw

Looking at all the supplies made it seem like a daunting task for my son to put together the claw, but, I reminded him, much like his Lego sets all he needed to do was follow the instructions.  Not surprisingly, with very little assistance from myself, he was able to complete the entire build within less than 30 minutes.  The instructions were incredibly detailed and easy to follow, even for a child that can’t fully read yet.  When his claw was completed he was so proud of himself.  He had actually broken his store-bought grabber a few months back and wanted to buy a new one. See the slideshow below for a sneak on his process.  He prefers me not to take pictures while he operates, so this is the best I could get.

Pom Pom Prizes

The last step was to make some pom pom prizes since no clam game is complete without a prize.  While my son was more interested in the googly eyes than the yarn, he thought it was neat how he was able to turn yarn into a pom pom in less than five minutes.   Cutting the yarn was a bit hard for him so he asked me to help with that portion.  His favorite part was adding bending the pipe cleaners and adding the eyes.

Overall

Once again, I’m floored by the level of quality that is Kiwi Crate.  Not only are all the supplies of impeccable quality, but the lessons learned are also invaluable to my child.  The theme of this month was one that I knew my son would like to work on so while he is busy having fun, he is actually learning something at the same time.  And, he is learning a skill that I wouldn’t be able to teach him on my own.  For only $19.99 a month, that is absolutely worth it to me.  Two months in and I still  100% recommend this subscription box to anyone that has kids.    Kiwi Crate offers different levels of boxes for ages 0-16+, see the link below to find out all that they offer.
