Mellow Frenzy is a clothing and accessories subscription box for all those ladies that want the added luxury of having a personal stylist.  When you sign up you give them your Instagram handle so they can tailor each box to personal style.   From the website’s description:  “Lifestyle/Clothing subscription box unlike the others!  No hassle & no styling fee.  Everything you receive, you keep.  We have various box sizes to fit your needs and wallet.”

Shipping: $3.05

Ships to: US

Mellow Frenzy offers several choices of boxes and plans that you can sign up for.  Ranging from a small box (4 items) to a VIP box (7 items, including shoes).  We decided to order the VIP Box on a month to month plan which normally cost $59.95.   However, Mellow Frenzy is offering 40% off your first VIP box with code: VIP10.  Using that code brought our total down to $39.02.  Described on the site as: “1 Full Outfit – This would include a top and bottom, 1 Accessory – Purse / Clutch / Wallet, 1 Matching Nail Polish, 2 + Jewelry Pieces – necklace / bracelet / earrings / rings, & 1 Pair of Shoes.  All items are YOURS.  No need to pay extra fees like most boxes, to keep the products.”

The Review Girls paid for this box.  This post may contain referral/affiliate links. If you buy something, The Review Girls may earn a commission.

Something we would like to note is that this subscription does not come with an info sheet regarding product values. Therefore all of the value estimates are based on past purchase comparisons.

 MPH Collection Blouse – Black

Estimated Retail Value: $25-$30

While opening the box, I immediately knew that this was my favorite item.  I have a few shirts in this style and they are normally very flattering and comfortable.  I really like the accents on the pockets and sleeves, which gave it a more dressy feel.  After trying it on, I realized it was much too big in almost every spot.  I tried to tuck it in, let it hang, and a front tie and it still didn’t look quite right.  Also with all the wrestling around to get it to look flattering on me, I got hot.  The polyester was not a good pick on a sunny PNW day.  I did still hang in it my closet to try another day.  Not giving up hope on it yet.

Hydraulic Capri Jeans

Estimated Retail Value: $20-$25

I love the basic look of these.  Nothing flashy (i.e. nothing that will scratch my son as he is tugging at my shirt.)  Just nice basic capris.  I also REALLY like that these had some stretch to them.  That gave me hope that they would for sure fit.  Unfortunately, my hopes fell flat as they were too tight to pull up past my thighs.  In all fairness to Mellow Frenzy, I am a HARD one to buy pants for.  My size can vary with every brand and even within some brands.  They tried their best by sending me the higher end of my range and adding stretch, but it wasn’t enough.  Again, these are sitting in my closet waiting for them to fit me one day.  They have become my new “goal” pants.

 Fury Blouse – Deep Coral

Estimated Retail Value: $15-$20

When I saw this in the box I have to say I wasn’t a fan.  The color was never something I would have bought for myself, the fabric seemed too stretchy, and it looked huge.  I reluctantly tried it on and (wait for it),  I am in love with this shirt!  The color actually looks brilliant on me, the stretch and larger size actually allowed me to do a side knot in the shirt which really pulled in my waist.  The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable.  I am so happy with this shirt.  The fact that it is nothing like anything I already have is amazing and I will make it a spring and summer mainstay in my wardrobe.

Buckle Necklace – See Picture Above

Retail Value: $12.99

Necklaces can be hard with me.  I don’t like them too tight (think: chokers) and I don’t like them too long.  They have to sit just right on my neck to be comfortable.  Lucky for me, this one was at that perfect length.  And it looks beautiful with the coral blouse.  This necklace adds the depth that the basic blouse was needing.   It is costume jewelry, which I actually really like, because if it gets broken, or twisted up, or lost (gasp), I won’t be heartbroken.

Hinged Bracelet

Estimated Retail Value: $10-$15

First and foremost, this bracelet is super easy to take on and off.  I can’t tell you how much I love that in jewelry.  As a mom on the go, I have no time to mess with clasps and such.  I wore this the first day I got it and got many compliments.  This piece demands attention and simply sparkles.  It is another costume piece, but as mentioned I like that.  I feel like this is the perfect accessory to dress up the many basic blouses that I already own.

Bracelet

Retail Value: $10-$15

The quality of this bracelet caught my eye.  I love the leather band and the clasp is very secure.  I really like the color scheme as well.  With that being said, I am not really a fan of owls so I can’t see myself wearing this.  I’m sure there are many people that would love to have this though.  Unfortunately,  it’s just not my style, and in a box with this many items, I expect at least one item not to hit the target.

Ring

Retail Value: $5-$8

I am a sucker for rings.  And you can’t go wrong with this bold black and gold ring.   I love to wear rings on multiple fingers, so this will work well with my jewelry collection.

Belladia Slip-On Shoes

Estimated Retail Value: $15-$20

As a Mom on the go, I was pleased with Mellow Frenzy’s choice of shoe.  I have to say I was a bit nervous to open the box to a pair of heels that would never get worn.  These are exactly what I needed in my closet.  They are the perfect shoe to slip on and go.  I also appreciate the added comfort these offer.  The soles have the memory foam cushion that my feet love.

Satchel Purse – Light Grey

Estimated Retail Value: $15-$20

I am not a purse person.  I know, what is wrong with me?  That being said, I can already see myself using this in a few instances.  I don’t have any satchel style purses, and I can see how I would feel much more secure with this style at crowded events.  Plus I really like the neutral color and the multiple pouches this purse offers.

Essie Nail Polish – Life of the Party

Estimated Retail Value: $4

After last month’s box, I realized what a great brand Essie is.  I hadn’t used them prior, so it was nice to be introduced to the brand.  I really like this color, the way it sparkles in the sun puts a smile on my face.  The application was easy and it dried in less than 5 minutes.

Overall

Overall, this box captured my style in ways I never thought possible.  Mellow Frenzy knocked it out of the park with this VIP box.  A few pieces didn’t fit, but even taking into account, the approximate retail value of the pieces that I will use is  $76.99-$99.99, so the $39.02 is a bargain!  Even at the full price of $59.95, I would say this box is a win.

    1. Thanks Steve! Feel free to let us know if there is a particular box you want to see reviewed. We love suggestions! 🙂

    1. Eli, MellowFrenzy switched websites and needed to add our code back in. TRG10 should now work for 10% off your order. The VIP10 has expired though. Thanks for your patience!
