When we were first approached by Power Post to review their subscription box, I quickly realized just how perfect of a subscription box this would be for me. I’m not someone who typically can idly stand by and not say or do anything when I’m passionate about something. When it comes to the environment, I don’t think people realize just how serious we need to get about it. This is the only planet that we have and we all need to do more to preserve what we have.

It was really neat to not only find a box that could help myself get more involved in environmental friendly outreach efforts but, to also receive some items that are safe for our planet.

The box also included several inserts that were extremely helpful to get me started. I liked how one of the inserts (pictured below) explained how to begin my first Power Post adventure! I personally chose the introvert option because that’s who I am, and I wanted to write down my thoughts – which was actually tougher than I thought. I’m thankful for all the information to get me started.

I love how at the bottom it mentions having fun. Yes, what is being done with this subscription box is important work, but, don’t forget to make this enjoyable! There was also an insert for me to track my campaigns. I found this to be helpful so I could look back on who I was going to send postcards too.

This month’s box is focused on A Green New Deal. This insert explains it very well:

Until receiving this box, if I’m being honest, I hadn’t spent any time really thinking about this lately. I’ve always cared about the environment and I’ve done subtle things to reduce my carbon footprint but, I quickly realized there is way more than not only myself but, we all can be doing.

The above item also included links to help get me started, as well as how I could look up my Representatives Addresses. Power Post supplied me with plenty of postcards to get me started.  I also love how they supply stamps too! I don’t keep postcard stamps on me so this was really helpful for me to get me started.

Here are the stamps that were included in the box as well as some inserts about some other items mentioned in the box. (See more details below)

For privacy reasons, I didn’t include my card completely filled out with my Representatives address, but, I did want to showcase an example of how something short and to the point can make a difference. You might not think so but, I think people don’t understand the power of our own voices sometimes. Our Representatives should be focusing on the environment in my opinion so I want them to know my thoughts and ideas. I also hope that this handwritten postcard will be more impactful than just an email since it’s a physical item that my Representative will see.

The pens and pencils below were included in the box. I loved that again, they were environmentally friendly. The pens are made by BIC and are made up of 74% recycled plastic. How neat! Again, I know I sound repetitive but, something as simple as pens, an item I use daily, can have such an impact on our environment with the amount of plastic used that ends up in landfills. All these little reminders really make me realize just how wasteful I’ve been over the years.

I also loved the pencils from TreeSmart because there are no toxic chemicals used in manufacturing them. Honestly, I really never even thought much about the number of chemicals that are pumped into our air from manufacturing plants so this was a good reminder for me to make a better effort to purchase more earth-friendly products.

Besides the postcards and items to go along with them, Power Post also included some really cool products in the box! I’ll go over those items below.

HAY! Straws – Natural Drinking Straws (Cocktail 5″ & Tall 7.75″)

I absolutely LOVED these straws. I know people like to joke about straws being contraband or whatever but, we do need to realize how much plastic waste goes into landfills each year from something as simple as straws. No, these aren’t what we’re used to but, they worked great, and I plan to purchase some to keep in my home for my family and friends to use.

Loofah

It always amazes me that a loofah comes from the cucumber family and is a completely natural product. For some reason, I’m simply amazed by this since when I was little, I thought it was comparable to wash cloth or something similar.  When I think of a loofah, I’ve always thought to use it in the shower with soap but, why not use it in the kitchen? If you can avoid using a product that will more than likely end up in a landfill, why would you not?

The Green Cat –  FlipFlap Sacks (Reusable Sandwich Bags)

One of the coolest items I’ve seen in a while. Check out how well crafted these items are, and I’m really loving the pattern and the design of the ones I received. I’d never had thought of such a perfect invention, so I’m glad that these were included in the box. I can only imagine how much plastic is used each year on just sandwich bags alone so I plan to incorporate these into my family so we can help cut down on waste. I can also use them for other snacks – especially the ones I pack for my daughter.

Overall Thoughts

My overall thoughts for Power Post was extremely positive and I would definitely order this box in the future. So much is packed into this box and I found myself extremely impressed with how well it was curated. I would consider this to be an ‘experience’ box in that it gives you an activity to complete each month that is socially conscious and helps promote the much-needed activism to keep our planet sustainable so it’s hard to break it down price wise (which is why I didn’t) but, I definitely feel it’s worth the price of the box. It’s a bit worrisome to think about our future generations and our planet, so I’m really glad Power Post reached out to us so I could do my part to help the planet, even if it was only a small role I played.
