This month’s theme is “Otsukimi Moon Festival”, which is described in the Bokksu insert as:
This month Bokksu came in a new box design. Since I loved their old boxes so much more, I was a little put off by the new design. However, change is sometimes necessary and the new design ended up growing on me. Bokksu is my favorite snack box to receive, so I always get excited to dive into the treats. Read on to see what came in this month’s box.
Sweet Treats
The sweet treats are always my favorite part of Bokksu. The unique textures, tastes, and variety of available treats are much appreciated by my family and me. One thing that I like is when they give multiples of the same product. I don’t feel guilty when I eat those items without sharing, since I know there is another one for my family to try also. This month my favorite sweet snacks were the Custard Cookie, Red Bean Doughnuts, and the Mochi Monaka. That being said, every snack was delicious!
Savory Treats
This month’s savory treats were much different than I’m used to seeing in Bokksu. The pizza potato chips were as delicious as they sound. The Cheese Arare had a fun pepper and cheese taste that would pair nicely with a glass of wine. And the Curry Rice Crackers were nice and airy plus tasted just like you would except…curry!
Tea
I decided to save this tea for when the colder weather starts to hit Washington. However, I tried it when I reviewed the October 2019 Bokksu box and described it as:
“The cultural guide listed this as a green tea with low caffeine content. Typically I stick to the higher caffeine content in teas, however, with the cold Fall weather here in Washington, I appreciate a tea that I could drink into the early evening. The little satchels looked very fancy and made me excited to see how the tea would taste. While it was steeping I noticed it had an almost smokey scent, which is because the makers actually roast the green tea. The toasty flavor came through in the taste of the tea too, and I enjoyed the unique flavor. “
Overall
Just when I think that Bokksu can’t beat the previous month, they send me an even better box. I’m still not sure how they manage to find such a huge variety of incredible snacks month after month. The price did raise a bit, however, I still feel they offer enough unique items to make the price worth it. Bokksu is my favorite snack box to receive, hands down. I also really like that I can go into their marketplace and order my favorite products in bulk.
