HONEYLOVE was generous enough to send over some of their fabulous shapewear items for me to test and review for you. I was able to pick three items out from their amazing lineup. And, it was a hard choice! After much researching, I decided testing out a cami, a bra, and a thong would give me a great selection of products to tell you about. Next, I needed to figure out my sizing for each item.
HONEYLOVE has a feature on its website that helps customers find their size in all of its individual products. After answering the questions, I found I was an all-around 1XL To be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the sizing calculation. Especially for the cami, as my chest is no doubt an extra-large, but my waist tends to be closer to a large. Luckliy, HoneyLove offers FREE returns for 30 days, so I knew if the sizing was off that they would help me make it right.
LiftWear Cami – Retail Value: $84
The LiftWear Cami was the item I was most excited about, but also the one that I was most skeptical about. It turned out that the sizing on the 1XL was a bit too large on the waist and sides. The first hour I felt and looked fantastic (see pictures below). But After about an hour I noticed the boning on the sides started to dig into my armpits. Since I knew that shouldn’t happen with the correct size, I reached out to HoneyLove for an exchange. They stood by the 30 Free Returns and Exchanges and sending me a smaller size. They also included a free shipping label to send the larger size back to them.
Now let’s talk about this cami! The all-over smoothing is wonderful, but my favorite thing about this cami is that also provides the lift and support I would get from my bra. This means I can skip double layering my normal cami and underwire bra for this comfy, smoothing, and underwire-free cami. Normally, I don’t feel fully secure and comfortable in an underwire-free bra, however, the added compression helps make me feel like I won’t spill out. Speaking of compression, across the stomach there is a crisis cross pattern that helps keep my lower stomach area (thanks c-section) looking smooth. It is hard to see on the fig-colored cami, so I included a product picture of the Runway color so you can see what I’m talking about.
LiftWear V Neck Bra – Retail Value: $64
As mentioned above, I’m not normally a fan of unwire-free bras. I always feel like I will spill out of the cups, or look lopsided. But when I tell you I found my new favorite bra AND it is wire-free…I still feel like it is a dream. The fabric is incredibly smooth, soft, secure and so so so comfortable. To be honest, I never knew a bra could be this comfy. When looking at it on the HoneyLove website, I really thought it would be more of something that I would only wear around the house. I couldn’t tell if it would make me look like I had a uni-boob. The before and after pictures speak for themselves though. After being brought to the comfy side by HoneyLove, my underwire bras are a thing of the past!
Everyday Cotton Thong – Retail Value: $24
Ever since my c-section (almost 8 years ago), my midsection has looked and felt like a blob of jello. And while I returned to my pre-pregnancy thong of choice, I always felt like it was cutting into my stomach. When unboxing this cotton thong, I really didn’t expect to like it. The fabric was very soft, but also very thick feeling. After wearing a lace band my entire adult life, this wideband reminded me more of yoga pants than a thong. I was also slightly concerned about the thick fabric making my midsection look even larger.
However, HoneyLove knows what they are doing. I will not doubt them again. The wideband did in fact feel like I was wearing yoga pants but in all the best ways. It sucked in my midsection and left my looking extremely sleek. The thick fabric offered slight compression without adding bulkiness to the area. And unlike my other laces banded thongs, this one stayed in place all day and wasn’t cutting into my sides. Now, $24 for one thong is out of my budget for “everyday” wear. But, I will be making an exception and getting a few of these to have for days I want to look and feel a little more polished.
Wash Bag – Included with Purchase
Included in our package was also this cream wash bag. Washing the cami was one thing I was a bit nervous about, and having this bag to use helped calm my nerves. The bag helps protect garments from zippers and other clothes while being laundered. Great way to help protect your investment.
Overall
While I’m not a shapewear aficionado, I do know a little something about wanting to look my best. HoneyLove gave me a beautiful silhouette and provided a perfect amount of support. Also, the pieces look so beautiful on their own that I didn’t feel like they were something to hide from the world. But the best part was that I was comfortable while wearing them. HoneyLove paid attention to the details that set the consumer up for comfort by removing underwires, minimal boning, using fabric compression, and making sure the pieces stay in place. Reminding me that beauty doesn’t have to be painful.
