Being a Boss Lady means putting in the work to see your business flourish. Whether it is a full-time job or a side gig, you do what needs to be done to get to the next level. I work a full time job, run a family business with my husband, and I am co-owner of The Review Girls blog. Did I mention I am also a mother to an amazing 4 year old son? Needless to say, I am a busy woman that considers myself a boss in every sense of the word. So when we were approached by Boss Lady Swag to review their box, I was all in.
Champagne Dream Treats – Project 7
Estimated Retail Value: $1.20 Gum and $2.43 Gummies
These were a fun little treat to receive in this box. I have seen the Project 7 brand at grocery stores and admire their mission. The flavor choice seemed very fitting for this box. I first tried the gummies and they were surprisingly pretty good. The gum wasn’t nearly as good as the gummies, however, but it was fun to try them both.
Hot Pink Lipgloss – Nabi
Retail Value: $2.00
I have to say that I wasn’t impressed with this lipgloss. The color is way too bright for me as I am more of a clear or nude lip woman. Also, the brand wasn’t something that I would buy for myself. What I can say about it is the “long lasting” part is true. After swatching it on my hand I had to scrub to get it off. You’re guaranteed to have a long last lip color all day with this product.
Budget Notebook – Ashley Shelly
Retail Value: $13
This is a really neat budget planner and I could see it being very useful for many people. Personally, I have my budget laid out in an Excel sheet that I created years ago so I can’t see myself using this. However, there are a lot of cool features in this notebook such as the debt payback tracking. It is also a really good quality tracker. Ashley Shelly designed a thorough notebook that most people would love to have.
Always Bossin – Ring Dish
Estimated Retail Value: $7.99
Now, this is something I could see myself using. I like that the saying would remind me to keep pushing forward even on the hard days. Having little mantras around me always help to keep me focused. I will be putting this at my desk as a paperclip bowl so I can continue to remind myself and stay motivated.
Motivational Pens – Taylor Elliot Designs
Retail Value: $4/each
I always love to get a good pen. These are pretty good quality pens and they write very smooth and are comfortable to hold. However, I am not sold on the quotes on these particular pens. “Take the leap” is alright, however, the “Dream Big, Darling'” one sits wrong with me. I like to be seen as a professional and words like “Darling” do not sit right with me and seem rather demeaning in most contexts, so I can’t see myself using this at the office. I will use it at home though since the quality is really good.
Pocket Book Keychain – Eccolo
Retail Value: $8.99
I could see where some boss ladies out there might use this during a night out on the town. I do like the rose gold color of the keychain. However, I can’t see myself using this at all since I am more of a debit card over cash person. I know it will make a great gift for one of my nieces though.
Notebooks – Eccolo
Retail Value: $8.90
The last item in the box was a set of three pocket size journals. I don’t use journals or notebooks as much as I would like to. I used to love to sit and journal each night. So now that I have some fresh notebooks, I will get back into it as it is very therapeutic. I also plan on using the “Dream” journal as a place to track my future goals for both myself and this blog. I really liked the colors on these and the sayings don’t feel overly cheesy.
Overall
While I do like the niche of this box, I feel that this month wasn’t a great fit for me. I did like the ring dish, gummies, and the journals however the other items weren’t anything that I can see myself using. The retail value of all items adds up to $52.51, the box with shipping would run $40. If you liked everything in the box then it would still be a rather good deal. I do know this is a newer subscription box so I’m thinking they will get better with time.
