This month’s theme of BoxyCharm is Whimsy. This is the second month I’ve received BoxyCharm’s Premium box so I was so happy when I finally got my hands on it.
This feels like a good month for the theme. I always feel like December is a whimsical month with the holidays and the new year just around the corner.
Please keep in mind that some items may vary per box. BoxyCharm also allows their Premium subscribers the option for some customization. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the monthly email, so you can pick your option(s).
Let’s see what this month brings us…
Natasha Denona, Cranberry Palette – Retail Value $48.00
I was super happy when I flipped my box open and this caught my eye. I was hoping so badly that this would be in my box, and it was! Natasha Denona’s makeup is on the higher end for pricing so I, unfortunately, can’t budget for some of her beautiful makeup items often. Thankfully BoxyCharm hooked me up!
The only disappointing thing was the palette was kind of messy. I mean, not a huge deal since none of the pans were broken but, it still is nice to get all the items in good condition. This is the perfect holiday palette! I am digging all of the shades and the pigment is beautiful upon application.
Ciate London, Confetti Highlighter – Retail Value $32.00
I’m really not a huge highlighter kind of person but, that being said, I’m always pretty happy to receive an item from Ciate London! Their makeup is gorgeous, and this highlighter is no exception. It’s perfect for achieving that beautiful sun-kissed glow. I know I’ll use this a lot more in the summertime once I’m finally tan again.
Kat Von D, Cake Pencil Liner (Trooper) – Retail Value $19.00
This was not a hit for me in the box. I won’t go into it but, I do not support Kat Von D makeup so I will not be using this product. A quick Google search will give more information as to why but, for the sake of this review I wanted to mention I did get this in my box so readers know how many products came in the Premium Subscription.
Bite Beauty, Agave +Nighttime Lip Therapy – Retail Value $32.00
I am loving this lip product so far since I have the driest lips, especially during winter, so this product is very much a win for me. I rub this on my lips prior to bedtime and I wake up not feeling like I just traveled across the desert. Also, I really love that it’s vegan, cruelty-free, and smells really good. This will definitely be a product that goes on my shopping list.
Glow Recipe, Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer – Retail Value $39.00
I love the smell of this product. If I recall, this was the product I selected to receive, so I already knew it was coming. I’ve used watermelon masks before so I was pretty excited to try this out. I love that my skin feels so smooth and not texturized after putting this on. Unfortunately, I think this product made me break me out. I guess I can’t be 100 percent certain but, I have not made any changes to my skincare routine and I woke up with several new acne spots the following morning.
Avant, Supreme Hyaluronic Acid Antioxidising DUO Moisturiser – Retail Value $134.00
Dang, this product is a mouthful! I’m not an expert on skincare but, I know that Hyaluronic acid is very beneficial to helping skin appear more nourished and helps with aging. I have not had a chance to use this product yet since I did not want to use too many new skincare products on my face all at once since my skin can be pretty sensitive. However, from the reviews, lots of users are saying it’s very hydrating and helps with the appearance of fine lines and uneven skin tones (which I have both of!). I will say that I do feel $134 is a bit outrageous, given its only 1.69 fl oz.
Overall Thoughts
Overall I was very happy with my box. Being lucky enough to get both the Natasha Denona palette and the Ciate London highlighter was well worth the price of the box in my opinion. Here’s a breakdown of the full value of the box that I got:
- Natasha Denona Palette: $48.00
- Ciate London Confetti Highlighter: $32.00
- Kat Von D Eyeliner Pencil: $19.00
- Glow Recipe Watermelon Serum: $39.00
- Bite Beauty Lip Therapy: $22.00
- Avant Moisturiser: $134.00
Total Retail Value of the Box: $294.00
Considering I paid $35.00 for this month, that’s incredible! This is not unusual either, every month BoxyCharm is sure to pack your box full of some amazing makeup, skincare, and beauty items. I have been subscribing for years now and absolutely love it. I always recommend this box for anyone who may be new to makeup and is looking to grow their collection. It’s also so nice to see a healthy variety of skincare products.
