I knew immediately when I saw First Sip Brew Box announce that Deschutes Brewery would be featured in this month’s box, I had to share it with you all. Deschutes is a brewery close to my heart because as a local Pacific North Wester, I have not only visited and enjoyed their brewery very much but, their beer is really, really good! I love the Black Butte Porter and I order that occasionally when I’m out and about if it’s on tap. If you’re ever in the Bend area, make sure to visit their Public House as well because the food is really delicious. It’s also family-friendly, so I like that I was able to bring my daughter there a few years ago when I was on vacation with family.

My husband also wanted me to point out that he loves the new look of the sticker that was sent in this box. So cheers, all, let’s dive into what First Sip Brew Box sent us this month!

Deschutes Brewery Koozie,  Sticker Decal, & Wrist Band

Who doesn’t love some cool beer swag? My husband decided immediately to put the sticker on his suitcase, along with the rest of his collection. We collect brewery stickers and coasters, so this was a great item for us.  I also know that we’ll get some really good use out of the koozie.  It immediately had me daydreaming about summertime activities and being able to put it to use. Who else likes to float down the river? I can’t be the only one who must have a koozie for my favorite beverage, right? The wrist band was really cool to include too because it’s not an everyday item you see, and something fun to add to our collection.

Uncle Jammy’s Sauces – Your Arrogance Amuses Me BBQ Sauce

For those BBQ fanatics out there, you obviously know that no two BBQs sauces can be treated equally. Depending on what area you live in, that will also determine how sauces and BBQ food is made. The first thing I noticed while looking at the bottle was that the brand mentioned it was fruity was extremely intriguing to me because I always think of BBQ sauce as being bold or savory, not really fruity so that was really appealing to me.  Overall I liked the taste, and the smell was indeed fruity which I liked. I did think it was kind of spicy but, I also love spicy foods so that wasn’t a turn off for me.

Potlicker Kitchen – Blueberry Bourbon Fruit Jam

Who doesn’t love a good jam? I can’t be the only one! I don’t eat it very often because of the sugar content but, I was happy to sample this. The blueberry and bourbon were a perfect combination in my opinion. I’m already brainstorming some ideas of how I can use this item, rather than eat it independently for when I want something sweet.

Prohibition Pastries – Gingersnap Cookie (icing filed with Deschutes Beer)

At first, I did not realize this cookie was filled with Deschutes Beer in the icing inside of it.  I thought that was beyond cool how well that was incorporated into this box. The cookie was nice and soft, and the icing was a perfect consistency. If you love gingersnaps, I promise you’ll love this cookie. I only wish that Prohibition Pastries was closer to me so I could swing by and visit their store. They are located in Pittsburgh, so when I finally get to make my debut back there to visit family, I know exactly where I am going.

Deschutes Brewery T-Shirt

The first thing that stood out to me was the colors on this shirt. They were really bold, yet they all blended so well together. The design was aesthetically very pleasing to the eyes which I also like when I receive items. It fit my husband flawlessly, and now he has a brand new shirt to wear from a favorite brewery of ours!

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I have consistently really enjoyed receiving our First Sip Brew Box every month. Each month is something a little different, and I like that I’ve gotten to learn about new breweries and add some new brew swag to our collection. I first learned about this company when I was trying to find a gift for my Dad & husband for father’s day last year, and I knew I had to continue my husband’s subscription because of all the cool stuff they send! Also, they hold a bit of sentimental place in my heart because they’re located in Pittsburgh, and that’s where I was born and lived for the first decade of my life. It’s also important to my husband and me to support small businesses because at one point my husband was a small and local business so we’ve always felt we needed to pass along that kind of support to others.  If you are a craft beer lover – I really feel you’ll love this box. While no alcohol is sent, you get all the goodies to go along with it, and each month is a really cool experience.
