Obsesscents is a new subscription box that launched in May 2018.  We are excited to be able to review their box for our readers.  One of the great things about blogging in our niche is the opportunity to showcase new boxes.  It’s even better when a newer subscription box is amazing and we get to tell everyone how much we love it!  This month’s box theme was floral. I have to be 100% upfront and let you know, I am not a HUGE floral fan, so I was a little disappointed when I found out that was the theme.  With that being said, I will review based on quality rather than the scents.

Soy Wax Candle – Sweet Pea Blossom

Estimated Retail Value: $12

This is by far my favorite item in the box.  The scent wasn’t overpowering so I was able to light this candle and really enjoy it.  I love that Obsesscents uses soy wax since that gives off a cleaner burn without all of the toxins. This is a candle I would buy in the future.

Sugar Scrub – White Gardenia

Estimated Retail Value: $10

Unfortunately, in transit, our scrub leaked out some of the oil.  Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to have compromised the product, so it wasn’t a huge deal.  I did reach out to Obsesscents to make them aware of the problem and was happy to hear that it is something they will work on for future boxes.   It seems to have been a problem with the seal of the jar as the box was packaged very well.

I am a huge sugar scrub fan.  I have a favorite brand already so sometimes I can be a bit pickier than the average person.  This scrub was decent.  It had a nice oil base to it, not too thick or too runny.  For me, the only thing that I didn’t like was that I didn’t feel like it exfoliated as well as I’m used to.  Now this one can be used head to toe, so it is less coarse than a strict body scrub.  I personally wouldn’t use it on my face, so I would have liked a more coarse feel for the scrub.  That being said, I will still use the entire contents of this jar.

Bath Bomb – Lavender

Estimated Retail Value: $7

Right off the bat the size and attention to detail of this bath bomb caught my attention.  I love the added dried lavender.  I also liked that the color was a more natural shade, which shows me that there isn’t any harmful dye in this product.  I enjoyed this bath bomb on a Sunday evening with a glass of wine.  My skin felt amazing afterward and still does about three days later.

Lip Balm – Lillies & Lilacs

Estimated Retail Value: $4

The lip balm included in our box looked beautiful and worked great.  I tried it on twice to see how my lips felt and it did its job.  I thought I would be able to taste the floral notes but was relieved that there wasn’t a taste when I licked my lips.  However, I couldn’t get over the scent and it was too powerful for me since again, I’m not big on the floral scents.  If it were any different scent, this balm would become my new favorite.

Bar Soap – Jasmine Lavender

Estimated Retail Value: $8

As I mentioned in a previous review, I am really big into bar soaps right now.  It is one way I cut down on the plastic waste in my household.  So I was excited to try out the Jasmine Lavender bar.  The dried lavender accents at the top and the bumped texture of this soap made it feel very different from other soaps I have tried in the past.  I used this soap for just over a week and do feel like my hands get a good clean from it without having an overpowering scent.  I could see myself ordering this soap in the future.

Overall

Even though I’m not a huge fan of the floral scents, I have to say I’m very impressed with this new company.  The quality of each product was top notch and their level of customer service was as well.  I can see myself ordering this box in the future for myself as well as for a gift for some of my friends.  My estimated retail value of this box is $41 so at $39 for the box you get a bit of a discount if you love everything.  Normally you expect to see higher savings in a subscription box, however, I still think this box is worth the price. Plus, it’s so convenient to get it delivered right to your door versus having to go out and purchase each item individually! What are your thoughts on this box?
