About Stitch Fix

When you first sign up through Stitch Fix, you are given a styling profile to fill out for yourself. This helps your stylist pick out items that fit your needs, but also your personality and budget.  There are even examples of outfits that you can rate so your stylist really understands your fashion.  You can also choose how often you would like to receive boxes.  One thing to note, when you are a new member, they will send extra items in the first few boxes.  This is so they can ensure that they are giving you plenty of options while they get to know your style.

April 2019 Box Contents

I really like that Stitch Fix includes styling cards since I am not good at creating new looks.  I tend to wear the same type of outfits and simply change out tops here and there.  The included guides gave me some insight on things I could change up in my wardrobe. Also, the note from my stylist was really sweet and showed that she took the time to read my profile before choosing my items.

I love that they give 25% off if you keep everything in the box. That being said, with so many items in this first couple of boxes, I pretty much knew right away I wasn’t going to be able to keep everything.  I couldn’t justify spending that amount of money on new clothes for myself at this point.  I am looking forward to the standard size boxes so I can take advantage of the savings.

Brina & Em, Lemmy V-Neck Top – $38

This is the style of lightweight blouse that I always gravitate towards.  Not necessarily the floral design, but the cut of the shirt. While I was excited to try this item on, it was short lived.  Short, as in that is how it fits me.  My stomach was exposed if I lifted my arms at all.  Everywhere else it fit great, so I didn’t want to exchange it for a larger size.  I decided to just return this piece.

Pinque, Westlake Textured Pullover – $38

Although I adored the deep color of this sweater, I didn’t expect to keep it.  This is an item I wouldn’t even try on if I were in a store.  Sweaters aren’t really my thing since I generally am seen wearing a blouse with a layered cardigan.  I am so happy this item was in the box though and that I took Stitch Fix’s advice to try everything on.  The sweater fits me perfectly and the color looks marvelous on.  Needless to say, I ended up keeping this comfy sweater and I can’t wait to wear it.  The only downfall was when I realized that it is handwash only.

Doing my best to model the sweater and jeans that came in this month’s Stitch Fix

Judy Blue, Adelene Cuffed Girlfriend Jeans – $58

I am always hesitant to try on jeans.  The material in this pair was on the stretchy side so I figured they couldn’t be too much of a fail.  I was right, the stretch in these jeans made them fit me like a glove.  They hugged all the right places while still being comfy and flattering too.  It isn’t often that I fall in love with jeans, but today was one of those days.  These look perfect with the sweater I’m keeping and a pair of booties.  See the photo above where I attempt to model these!

Beacon, Patty Roll Tab Knit Top – $40

There wasn’t anything about this shirt that I liked.  The material felt cheap to me and it fit horribly.  This was an immediate return, with no second thoughts.

Cotton Emporium, Marybeth Waterfall Cardigan – $38

I live in cardigans, however, can’t get behind the waterfall style.  I don’t like the way it looks on my body so always steer clear of this style.  The fabric was so soft and buttery that I wanted to love it on me.  I still couldn’t get past the cut through and returned this piece.

Alice Blue, Filbert Lace Overlay Blouse – $42

When I pulled this shirt out of the box, I loved the style and the color.  The scalloped hem and lace overlay is charming.  I thought this would be the perfect shirt for both office wear as well as a night on the town.  However, after trying it on I sadly had to place it in the return pile.  It fit too big in armpits and too tight in the neck.

West Kei, Taleen Tie Front Blouse – $40

Front tie blouses are a full-blown style right now.  They look adorable on almost everyone, however, I have never felt like it worked for me.  Nevertheless, I tried this blouse on and fell in love with the style and the fit.  I didn’t love the pattern though.  The bright pink polka dots weren’t my thing, so I decided to return this item.  I was excited however to know that maybe I can pull off this trend and am now encouraged to step outside my comfort zone a little bit when shopping in the future.

Report, Mabella Laser Cut Booties – $59

Report makes my favorite booties so was stoked to get these in the box.  I have rather wide feet so it is hard to find shoes sometimes.  While these were super cute, they were too tight in my toes and too big otherwise.  this would have made the perfect outfit with the jeans and the pullover that I kept, lucky I have just the booties for that outfit in my closet already.

Overall thoughts

This is my second Fix and I feel like they veered a bit from my style.  While this box strayed a bit, I was surprised at the items that I ended up loving.  I tend to get stuck in fashion ruts and buy a lot of clothes that are the same fit and cut.  Straying seems scary to me.  This box did have me step out of my comfort zone a bit and realize that maybe the front tie blouse can work for me.  And maybe a textured pullover can give me the perfect balance of comfy yet professional. This time around I kept two items and was quite satisfied with the ones that I chose.  Once again, the price point is a little above what I’m used to paying, however, the convenience of having items picked out for me is priceless.
