The first thing that I noticed in this box was the insert that listed what products I would find in my box and also information on the net carbs and sugars in each of the items. While I like the clean look of this insert, I would love to see a little more information on the products, possibly the flavor variations that are in the box.
GoMix – Superfood TrailMix
Retail Value: $2.37 x 2 = $4.74
Abby tired these in a past subscription box so she had me (Noelle) give them a shot this time! While I can’t say this was my favorite trail mix, I thought it was decent. I liked that it reminded me a lot of fall with pumpkin seeds and mulberries. It filled me up too which is always good. A lot of times I worry about smaller snacks on Keto because there’s nothing worse than allowing a certain amount of macros for a snack then it doesn’t even fill you up for long enough. This definitely did though, and it was sweet enough with the coconut, goji berries, and mulberries to also satisfy that l sweet tooth of mine.
Nush Foods – Blueberry & Carrot Spice Cake
Retail Value: $3.48 x 2 = $6.96
I had the chance to try the Blueberry flavor in a past Sleek Treat box and wasn’t impressed the first go-around but decided it would be okay to try it one more time. Once again, it wasn’t my favorite item in the box since the aftertaste tends to linger. Personally, I wouldn’t buy this flavor for myself, but it is still edible and comes in handy in a pinch. The Carrot Spice Cake was a new flavor to me and I have to say it was my favorite flavor of these cakes to date. I noticed less of the aftertaste with this flavor and the consistency and moisture were still perfect.
Synchro Ketomanna Ketogenic Chocolate
Retail Value: $2.35
This is another product that I have received in a past Sleek Treat box as well as the August Sugar Smart Box. After experimenting with the past packets I knew my favorite way to enjoy this item is to freeze it and eat it like a chocolate bar. This way makes it easy to eat, with no oily aftertaste, it was like any other chocolate bar, except for less sugar! I would say this is another product that I wouldn’t go out and buy for myself but I’m not bummed when it comes in a box either.
RX Nut Butter – Honey Cinnamon PB, Vanilla Almond Butter, Maple Almond Butter
Retail Value: $2.55 x 3 = $7.65
Two of the three of these flavors were included in the August Sugar Smart box so I had a good idea of what to expect. Since these were one of my favorite items in that box I was stoked to get them again. Just like last time, I ate each one right out of the packet to make sure I got the full flavor. The Vanilla Almond Butter was my favorite again, however, I want to point out that each one had a perfect texture and amazing taste. The price point is still too high for me to consider buying these for myself so I love it when I get them in subscription boxes!
Smart Sweets – Sour Blast Buddies
Retail Value: $2.96
Abby tired these in a past subscription box so she had me (Noelle) give them a shot this time! I was really, really impressed by them and thought they were delicious. I even felt really full afterward (probably from all the fiber) so it made me not want to continue binging on anything else sweet. That right there is an automatic win! I will definitely purchase these in the future as they really do taste close to Sour Patch Kids, and make a perfect treat to stay on track.
Smart Sweets – Sweet Fish
Retail Value: $3.25
This is the treat that I was most excited to try. So many people have recommended that I try them and I just hadn’t gotten the chance. These are a plant-based snack that is also gluten-free, non-GMO, dairy/soy/lactose-free, free from sugar alcohols, and free from artificial colors! So basically these are guilt-free, yet still packed with amazing flavor that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. I will be ordering these in bulk in the future for sure!
Overall
As mentioned throughout a lot of my reviews, I have been following a low carb lifestyle since April. I do have cheat days (that sometimes turn into weeks) however I always get back in the saddle. Subscription boxes that deliver low carb snacks to me make it so easy to get back on track. While I had previously tried most of the snacks in this month’s Sugar Smart Box, I still very much appreciated having my low carb snack drawer full again. The only thing that would make this box better was having more of a variety. Over half of the items in the October box were also in the August box. Part of the fun is trying new products so it would be nice to see new items in future boxes.
