After reviewing the May 2020 box from The Gifter Box, I was very excited to see what this month would hold for subscribers.  With a theme like “Summertime Sweetness” I was expecting to see a box full of sweet treats.  However, this box seems to be more centered around Summertime and items to help you and your gift recipients enjoy the season.  The PNW is showing no signs of summer at the current time, so this box did help bring a ray of sunshine into my life.

Included in the box was a small gift bag, which made it easy for me to make up a quick present for someone special.  I really liked this month’s bag since it had a nice resealable closure.

2020 Planner – Retail Value: $11.99

Though this planner wasn’t listed on the insert, it was included in our June box.  Personally, I don’t use planners since I use my phone for everything.  This feels like a random item to include in a box halfway through the year.  I’m thinking it was included since states are starting to “return to normal” so possibly this is a way for subscribers to keep track of their social lives for the rest of the year.

Walton Wood Farm, Week From Hell Hand Rescue – Retail Value: $1.67

This is another item that wasn’t included in the insert.  I love that there were two included in the box since I was able to test it and gift one.  The formula was nice and thick and had a wonderful scent.  After looking at the Walton Wood Farm website, I can say there are several items I will be trying in the future.  I’m really happy I found this company, especially after reading their story.

Lush Wine Mix, Strawberry Basil Lemonade – Retail Value: $13

A slushie wine mix is just what I need to get into Summer Mode.  The unique flavor of Strawberry Basil gives this product a very posh feel too.  I am saving this item for a special day when I can share it with a friend now that the stay at home orders are lifted in Washington and once in a while get-togethers are okay in my county.  The slushies will be the perfect way to celebrate.

Indigo Bath and Body, Pomegranate & Rose Clay – Retail Value: $5

While I can’t speak to the results of the mask, I did some research on Indigo’s website.  Information for their website says that the package is enough about 2-3 masques. The user can choose which liquid that they use to mix their mask and give the ideas of using yogurt, tea, honey, or water.  This made a perfect gift for a “Self Care Kit” that I put together for a dear friend of mine.

Dirt Bag Beauty, Face Mask – Retail Value: $3.50

I love a good facemask and have been looking for a good one to minimize my pores, so I figured this would be a good product for me to review.  After adding a tiny bit of water I noticed the mix was much runnier than I’m used to with masks, so I wasn’t sure it would work very well.  While it was a bit messy due to it dripping during the application, the overall results outweighed the slight inconvenience of cleaning up the mess.  I felt a noticeable difference in the tightness of my skin and my pores did look smaller.  The smell of the mask was something I don’t care for, but again the results outweighed any reservations.  I will buy this product again in the future without a doubt.

Saturn Ranch, CBD Lip Balm & Body Balm – Retail Value: $18

In the past few years, I have heard a lot about CBD and the possible benefits of using it.  I haven’t ventured too far down the path but have been curious.  In our box, there was a lip balm and a body balm for me to try.  I really loved the lip balm and that is an easy product to incorporate into my daily life without much thought.

The body balm was on the small size but it was enough to get a good idea of possible uses and benefits.  During the stay at home orders, I have had bouts of high anxiety and figure this would be a good time to see if I notice any benefits from using CBD.  I couldn’t find directions on how to use the balm for anxiety, so I researched it a bit online.  It seemed there were several ways to use it, so I went ahead with simply giving myself a light neck massage using a pea-sized about of product.  After a quick massage I would notice a cooling sensation and the smell of peppermint.  I can’t say if this product made a huge difference, but the fact that it got me to take a few minutes to myself to relax was helpful in itself and did a lot to calm me.

One Fork Farm, Vanilla Bean Caramels – Estimated Retail Value: $5

This caramel is heaven!  I planned on adding them all to my husband’s father’s day gift, however, he happened to see the package as I was taking pictures for this review.  After he insisted that we open them, I was able to snag one to try.  The sea salt and vanilla combo was the perfect pairing.  I wasn’t able to find a 1.85 oz pack on the One Form Farm website, however, they sell a 4 oz version for $10.  I really like to see the small companies that The Gifter Box includes in their subscription.  Being a PNW woman, I always am giddy when Washington and Oregon are represented.  I will be supporting this business in the future since these caramels would make unique little treats for my friends and family.

XO Marshmallow, Lavender Honey – Retail Value: $9.95

One thing to note, the marshmallows came melted together.  Before I could even let The Gifter Box customer service know about the issue, they sent me a message that they had heard from others there was an issue and a replacement was already in the mail.  Talk about customer service!  Within days I got a box with a freezer pack and two boxes of marshmallows.  Since there were two boxes, I was able to gift one AND try the other box at home.  I was shocked at the level of service, stuff like that makes me (and subscribers) loyal to the brand.

I have never even thought to put marshmallows in my tea, so this whole product was new to me.  So I brewed some green tea and tossed in a  marshmallow.  The taste and scent are of faint floral which was actually better than I expected.  The floral taste went well with a mild tea and it was nice to shake up my routine a bit.  Being the marshmallow lover that I am, I had to go to their website and see what other products they offer.  All I can say is WOW, you need to see for yourself all the fun products that they sell!

Friend Greeting Card – Estimated Retail Value: $4

This handmade card was the perfect addition to the Self Care Kit that I made for a friend.  I really like to use greeting cards as a way to spread love.  And cards that are blank inside make this very versatile.

Father’s Day Greeting Card – Estimated Retail Value: $4

Since Father’s Day is coming up fast, this was a great card to include in the June box.  I actually had already bought a card for my husband and for my Dad so I filed this one way to use for next year.

Dream Card, Jagged Touch Studio – Estimated Retail Value: $6

Jagged Touch Studio was also featured in the May box from The Gifter Box.  This is a large card and one that I actually will most likely frame, along with last month’s card, and give as a gift.  The artwork is beautiful and has a lot of depth to it that can be appreciated more hanging on a wall.  I could see my sister really liking to both cards to her bedroom.  The artist’s website didn’t seem to have this specific card for sale, so I estimated the price.

Overall

I feel like I summed it up last month best saying, “My favorite thing about The Gifter Box is the fact that the products where sourced from small businesses. I really love to support small and local businesses and this box did just that.  The items were all unique and ones that even after years of reviewing subscription boxes were still new to me.  Being a gifter at heart, this box is excellent for me.  Having a box sent to me with small items that I can gift is a win-win.  The greeting cards are so intuitive too, as they cover upcoming holidays that the subscriber may need a card for.  The overall value of this box is way over the monthly cost, which makes this box that much sweeter.”

All of those words still ring true for their June box.  I did feel that this month was a bit more random than last month’s however the products were still very nice and high-quality products that I can be proud to gift.  By far, my favorite thing is supporting the small businesses which are represented in each box.  My overall opinion of The Gifter Box is still all love.
