This month’s theme was “Shop Local” and included products that come from The Introverted Chick’s home state of Kentucky!  All items in the box were sourced or designed by a company in Kentucky.  The insert also included a 2020 resolution to include at least one product every month from a small business in their home state.   I love knowing that this box is striving to help small businesses.

“Comfy and Cozy” Coffee Mug – Estimated Retail Value: $12.99

I love the campfire mug fad right now so this was right up my alley.  This one was designed by Sarah, the owner, and curator at The Introverted Chick and the quote is one I  can relate to.  There is nothing better than being comfy and cozy at home in my PJS with some delicious cup of coffee.

JOY Shower Burst & Sachet– Retail Value: $6.25

I will admit that I haven’t yet used this product.  Between the holiday rush and remodeling our home, I keep forgetting to bring it into the shower.  However, it smells wonderful and I can’t wait to fully enjoy it.  Also, I really appreciated that The Introverted Chick included the satchel with this product since that will make it much easier to use.

Mint Tea Dermafoliant – Retail Value: $23.99

I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this dermafoliant.  The powder looked like a silky green tea powder and smelled like mint.  I wasn’t sure how this soft powder could possibly make my skin feel exfoliated.  But I really really loved it.  Unlike a normal scrub, itis very gentle and without the typically coarse granules. This one is more like a soft and velvety scrub that still leaves your face incredibly smooth. I’m excited to add this to my skincare routine.  With a retail value of $23.99 this one product alone nearly accounts for the price of the whole box!

Cinnamon Broomstick Car Freshener – Retail Value: $4.99

This car scent with something I could get behind. I love the smell of cinnamon, especially between Fall and Winter. It’s the perfect scent for pretty much anywhere in your home or of course your car.   I ended up putting it in our linen closet to keep our towels smelling like fresh.

Vanilla Robusto Tin Candle – Retail Value: $12.99

While I love the sleek travel tin that this candle is poured in,  I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the scent. The tobacco flower scent seems very strong to me whereas the vanilla is milder. I’m more of a sweet person and would rather it smell more of the vanilla than the musky earthy scent that this one gave off. That being said, it did burn very nicely and the scent is a bit tempered once it is lit.

Candies – Estimated Retail Value: $13.99

The Introverted Chick went on a field trip this month to the Ruth Hunt Candy Store, and with that came a sugar rush in a box for all of us subscribers.  Since I pretty much like anything with sugar in it, I knew this would be a fun box to review.  First I tried the wrapped caramels.  While they were not as sweet as I expected, they were velvety smooth and had a great creamy flavor.   Next up I ventured to the Blue Monday Bar.  I have never heard of these bars but I was sold on the first bite.  The middle is a soft and sweet pulled cream candy and it is covered is a thin dark chocolate shell.  I will need to order more of these bars in the future.  They are THAT good.  I put off the Kentucky Sugar Sticks for a few days since I was thinking they were a typical candy cane style treat.  However, once I realized they were the softer version that I could bite into, I devoured two in a row.  No shame in my game.  The yellow and green stick was a ginger flavor that was delicious and the peppermint one was great as well.  I did save the Blueberry for my son, so I will take his word on how delicious that one was.  All the treats were great and it was exciting to try some new items that I haven’t seen over on the West Coast.

Moka Jo – Retail Value: $4.00

The next delicious treat I got to test was this Moka Jo powered mix.  This versatile mix can make hot chocolate when mixed with warm milk or a mocha when mixed with coffee.  My son and I set this aside to try on Christmas Eve and it made the perfect cup of hot chocolate for us.  Even Santa got to try some.

Spudz Potato Chips – Retail Value: $0.72

I hadn’t heard of Spudz Chips before, which is why I like that The Introverted Chick filled their box with products from their home state.  It is wonderful to try new (to me) companies such as Spudz.  Also, it was nice that something salty was included in this box to go along with all the sweet goodies. And what better flavor to include than Kentucky BBQ?!  Overall both flavors were great.  They were nice thin-sliced potatoes with the perfect amount of flavor.

Overall

The overall price of the products was above the monthly subscription cost, which is typical of The Introverted Chick and means the subscriber generally wins.  I personally loved this month’s theme of supporting local businesses too.  While I didn’t see and overwhelming “introvert” themed in this box, I was ok with that.  Even though I’m a true introvert I don’t need the products to be in my face with that idea.  Plus, I like how all items can be enjoyed during a quiet weekend at home.  And sharing the cup of cocoa with my mini-me was great too.
