This month’s theme was “Monster Mash” and after reading that theme, I couldn’t stop singing the song! I love that they curate their boxes to match the season, makes it so fun to open.  Also included in the box was this helpful, double-sided product card.  Each product was listed along with detailed information.

Pumpkin Spice Pandora’s Pop

Retail Value: $4

Nutritional Info: Vegan, Organic, Gluten Free, Sugar Free, Non GMO. Sweetened with xylitol

I have been following a low carb lifestyle for six months so whenever I get to try sugar-free candy I’m down for it.  I kept seeing these suckers online and have been wanting to try them, especially since I’m a sucker (see what I did there?) for everything pumpkin spice.  This product didn’t disappoint.   The flavor was perfect and it tasted even sweeter than suckers with sugar in them.  I actually saved part of it for the next day.  It wasn’t as hard the following day, it crumbled apart a bit, but it still tasted just as good.  I will be ordering a lot of these in the future.

Snickerdoodle – Quest Protein Cookie

Retail Value: $1.99

Nutritional Info: Carbs (4g net), Protein (15g), Fat (16g), Gluten Free, Sweetened with erythritol & stevia

Snickerdoodles are one of my all-time favorite cookies!  This protein cookie was pretty spot on in the flavor department.  It was even soft and chewy, just the way I like it.  I ended up eating this for lunch one day and it kept me full for over four hours which was a huge bonus.  This cookie is great to have on hand for the days I want to feel like I’m cheating, without the guilt.

Devotion Nutrition Protein Powder – Brownie Batter

Retail Value: $2.08

Nutritional Info: Carbs (2g net), Protein (22g), Fat (2g), Gluten Free

Protein shakes are my go-to meal replacement when I run out the door too fast to grab lunch.  Generally, it is healthier than picking up fast food and it is easy to drink quickly while I’m being pulled in multiple directions.   I tried this powder mixed with 12 oz of water (no ice).  It was pretty thick, like brownie batter consistency.  It was ok with cold water, but I wanted to try it over ice as well.  That made a world of difference.  It was incredibly delicious over ice.  Then I took it a step further and mixed in half a packet of the below mention Mint Chocolate Chip flex flavor and talk about tasty!  Reminded me of a milkshake.

Devotion Nutrition Flex Flavors

Retail Value: $3.20

Nutritional Info: Varies by flavor, Gluten Free, Sweetened with Stevia

I had to research these flex flavor packets since I had never heard of them.  Basically, they are a go to for anything from changing up the taste of coffee, baking, or protein shakes.  What a fantastic idea.  Instead of ordering multiple flavors of protein powder, you can order one and mix these in to change it up.  First, I tried the Sweet Caramel in hot black coffee and I wasn’t a fan, as it had a heavy stevia aftertaste.  I also tried the Monster Cookie and Pumpkin Pie flavors in hot coffee to see if the aftertaste was just the caramel packet or it was the coffee itself.  Unfortunately, they were just as bad.  I think if you are someone that is okay with the stevia aftertaste then the flavor won’t bother you quite as much as it did for myself.  Lastly, I tried the mint chocolate chip flavor mixed with the above-mentioned protein powder.  I actually really loved this combo.  However, I have to say that less is best in the case of these flex flavors.  I added half a packet at first to my 12 oz protein shake and it was the perfect flavor without the dreaded aftertaste.  The powders all mixed in really easy within both hot and cold environments.

Cherry Almond – Nush Foods Cake

Retail Value: $2.99

Nutritional Info: Carbs (3g net), Protein (5g), Fat (14g),  Gluten Free, Organic, Kosher, Sweetened with erythitol & monk fruit

We had the chance to try the banana nut and the blueberry flavors in past Sleek Treat boxes so I thought I had an idea of what to expect with this cake.  I was wrong.  I wasn’t a huge fan of the other two flavors, however, this one was amazing.  This would be a perfect breakfast along with a hot cup of coffee.

Pumpkin Spice Orange Granola – Hi-Fi Bar

Estimated Retail Value: $2 (1.4oz) (2.8oz bag retails for $4)

Nutritional Info: Carbs (5g Net), Protein (5g), Sugar (1g), Fiber (4g), Gluten Free, Vegan, Sweetened with monk fruit juice

Granola is such a great treat to have on hand since it stores so well and keeps me full for hours.   I highly recommend this mix from Hi-Fi Bar.  It was nice and crunchy and the right amount of sweet.  I would love to keep a couple of these packets stashed in my glove box for the times my son is “starving” during our road trips.

Sour Blast Buddies – Smart Sweets

Retail Value:  $3.29

Nutritional Info: Carbs (8g Net), Fiber (28g), Fat (0g), Sugar (3g), Gluten Free, Non GMO, Plant Based

I saved these for Halloween night, knowing once I saw all my son’s trick or treating loot that I would want some candy for myself as well.  When my craving kicked in, I pulled out these and was satisfied with my smart choice.  If you like Sour Patch Kids, you will love these!

Salted Caramel & Pecan – BHU Fit Primal Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bar

Retail Value: $2.50

Nutritional Info: Carbs (1g Net), Protein (13g), Fat (17g), Sugar (1g), Gluten Free, Non GMO

I planned on using this as a lunch replacement bar, however, I wasn’t a fan of this bar.  As you can tell from my past Sleek Treat reviews, protein bars are a hard sell for me.  There are a few that I really like.   This one wasn’t the worst I have ever had, but I wouldn’t buy it in the future either.  It had a very chalky taste and I actually ended up tossing it after four small bites.

Overall

I have said it again and again, the value of this box is in the convenience.  When you are trying to eat less sugar and or carbs, the temptation is everywhere, especially this time of year.  However, my snack drawer hasn’t let me down since starting the Sleek Treat subscription box.  Each month I am able to refill it with incredible products that I wouldn’t have had the chance to try if it weren’t for this box.  The fact that on a monthly basis Sleek Treat sends a great range of snacks is super beneficial to someone like me that doesn’t have the time or resources to taste test a bunch of products at random.   Anyone following a carb or sugar restricted diet would benefit from this subscription.
