Smart Baking Co – Cinnamon SmartCake
Retail Value: $3.12
Nutritional Info: Carbs (0g Net), Sugar (0g), Gluten Free, Non-GMO. Sweetened with erythritol & monk fruit
These SmartCakes are a game-changer. They taste just like coffee cake and I couldn’t believe they have zero net carbs. To make sure I was exaggerating how delicious they are, I had my four-year-old son try a bite. Needless to say, he ate the whole other cake and I was left wanting more of these. I will be ordering this product in bulk in the very near future.
Intakt – Cheese Lover Original
Retail Value: $3.75
Nutritional Info: Carbs (2g net), Protein (12g), Fat (14g), Gluten Free.
While I thought these were a good snack, I can’t say I was completely sold on them. I’m not sure if it was a certain kind of cheese that was used in this particular one but, something about it was a bit of a miss for me. That being said, I think a lot of people would love this snack while on low-carb/keto diets because I know one thing I always crave is something crunchy! I also like that the packaging is small enough that you can take it on the go, or perhaps sneak it into your bag for a movie.
Sencha Naturals – Green Tea + C Drink Mixes
Retail Value: $2.21
Nutritional Info: Carbs (0g), Protein (0g), Fat (0g), Gluten Free, Vegan, Non-GMO, Sweetened with Stevia Leaf Extract
At first, I wasn’t sure how to use these packets, I was expecting to open it up and have a teabag to brew. However, this is a powdered mix, which was actually really exciting to me. It said to mix it with water…but, I wasn’t sure if it should be cold or hot though. So I tried the Dragonfruit flavor one cold, which was delicious. The next day, I tried the Original flavor hot, which was equally amazing. I love that they are so versatile since I can enjoy them year-round. My son was sick this week, so I loved the fact there are high amounts of Vitamin C (300% DV). This made me feel like I was doing my part to keep his cold from attacking me.
Nush Foods – Blueberry Cake
Retail Value: $2.99
Nutritional Info: Carbs (3g net), Protein (5g), Fat (12g), Gluten Free
We had the chance to try the banana nut flavor in a past Sleek Treat box and weren’t very impressed, so we weren’t sure what to expect with this flavor. Once again, the smell of this bar was perfectly fitting of that of a blueberry muffin. The first bite promised high hopes as it even tastes like there was sugar sprinkled on the top. However, after finishing the bite the dreaded aftertaste hit again. I ended up eating the whole cake since I have noticed sometimes it takes a few bites to really enjoy low carb/sugar treats. While the aftertaste didn’t go away, I can’t say that I disliked this treat. I could see myself eating this if I were really craving a muffin. It has its place, but it won’t be a new staple for me on my low carb journey.
Quest – Maple Waffle Protein Bar
Retail Value: $1.98
Nutritional Info: Carbs (5g Net), Protein (20g), Sugar (1g), Fiber (16g), Gluten Free, Sweetened with Erythritol & Stevia
I was very impressed with the overall taste of this protein bar. There was no chalkiness or funky aftertaste. The smell was that of a waffle house and the texture was the perfect balance of soft and chewy.
ThinkThin – Birthday Cake Protein Cakes
Retail Value: $2.33
Nutritional Info: Carbs (8g Net), Protein (12g), Fat (5g), Gluten Free, Non-GMO
I am a lover of all things birthday cake, so I was pretty excited about this item. While the consistency of these protein cakes was nowhere near that of a real cake, the flavor and smell were still there. These were one of the sweetest low carb snacks I have ever tried, so I ended up eating just one and giving the second one to Noelle.
Noosh Almond Butter – Assorted Flavors
Retail Value: $2.70-$3.60
I always like it when a snack box gives multiples (especially different flavors) of the same product to try. The Cupcake flavor was incredibly tasty and had me instantly googling a place to buy more. I don’t think I will ever spread it on anything, eating it out of the packet is a delicious treat. For the coffee flavored one, I could definitely taste the coffee. I was worried the MCT oil might throw me off but, it didn’t at all. I really enjoyed this one! The original almond butter flavored was also really good and the flavor I would expect if I was purchasing some. One thing I wanted to note was to make sure you really kneed the package before opening. I learned that the hard way with the coffee-flavored butter!
Overall
We are pretty lucky in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) to be surrounded by stores that offer a lot of these specialty products on their shelves. However, I know a lot of our readers live in areas where it is a lot harder to buy single-serving treats to match their healthy lifestyle. This box helps solve that problem. Sleek Treat gives its subscribers a chance to taste test new products every month. If you are on any sort of low carb/sugar diet, this is the box for you. I can’t stress enough how handy it has been to have treats automatically delivered to me on a monthly basis. Every month I find a new favorite treat. Now, I have zero fear of ordering more of those treats in bulk online.
