Treating one of my pets to a subscription box brings so much joy to me. I consider pets to be family, and I love to give gifts to people so that’s probably why. I also love receiving subscription boxes! It feels like Christmas every month. KC is such an incredible dog and I was so happy to be able to surprise her with this box. KC just turned 13 in January so I considered it a birthday present for her.  I thought it was fantastic that BarkBox sent a message to me right after I signed up, asking for a picture of KC  information on dietary restrictions and other lifestyle factors. It shows a lot when a subscription box truly cares about its subscribers.

She did not waste a single second to see what was inside!

January’s theme is Snowbound Hounds. I thought that was adorable. The graphics on the box were so cute, and I like how they included little tips on how to enjoy a snow day! I am not sure if KC would enjoy the snow as much as other dogs but, I knew she would enjoy everything else in the box. Especially the treats!

I love how you can purchase additional accessories for the snowman toy that comes in this box. I was incredibly impressed with how much design goes into the box each month. It’s little details like the cartoon below that make a subscription box stand out. BarkBox has really made such a cool name for itself.

Introducing below, Toboggan Noggin. As mentioned above, there are additional accessories you can purchase for this toy, such as a scarf, and a hat. It’s a bit creepy looking taking it straight out the box, I can’t lie about that.

However, KC thought it was adorable and graciously let me snap a couple of pictures of her with her new item. However, she was ready to dive right into the treats.

The first treat in the box is called Snowman Nose Nibbles. These are meant to go in the nose socket area on the snowman. They contain lamb, cranberries, carrots, and turmeric. Turmeric has so many health benefits including helping with inflammation (which unfortunately some older pups often suffer from swelling and joint pain) so I was very happy to see that in this treat.

The other treats that the box had in them were the Snowman Peepers. It may be a funny name but, this treat actually goes in the snowman’s eyes! They contain blueberry, with charcoal and vanilla, as well as some other ingredients.

KC told me she needed to sample them before they went into the snowman’s face. How can I resist that request with such a sweet face? She was not so patient with me, so I apologize that the picture is a little blurry! Consider it an action shot!

Also in the box was this lamb stick treat. Lamb is one of the meats that KC can have without digestive issues so I noticed that BarkBox took note of that during our initial discussion.

This stick lasted all of 30 seconds since KC is a chowhound.

Now it was time to put Toboggan Noggin to use and let KC try to grab the treats out of him!

She was somewhat patient this time. Maybe the lamb stick helped fill her up a little bit. (Hahaha – right!)

Finally, it was time for her to get her treats. Due to the way the treats are in the snowman’s eyes and nose, it really helps to slow down dogs, like KC, who eat very quickly. I love this!

Overall Thoughts

As you can probably see, this box is a huge hit for KC. She’s very food driven and actually isn’t really all that into toys. So combing treats with the snowman was a brilliant move by BarkBox. KC also tends to eat food and treats in record speed so, shoving the treats into the snowman gave her additional time to enjoy them. The design of the toy can make it so the treats are more difficult to eat all at once. This really had her working for it! I also love how the theme was perfect for January. We had our own patch of snow in the Pacific Northwest so that was very appropriate.

Overall, I would highly recommend this box for any dog owner out there. BarkBox has great customer service, and their PR team is really nailing it with some of their ads. Check out this link if you want a backstory on a funny mishap and how they handled it! I could not stop laughing!

Double Stuffed Upgrade to your first BarkBox!
