The summer months are always a great time for grilling. I’m sure we all have fond memories of a family, friends, or work cookout that we’ve attended where delicious food has been the center of the social gathering. Or, if you’re like me, just a chill evening at home with some delicious stuff thrown on the grill can be just as amazing.

August 2019’s box is filled to the brim with some really great stuff. I really like how the insert contains all the information needed in order to get started.

Pitmasters Chris Gentry was featured for this month’s recipe: Cuban Stuffed Pork Loin. Yum!

The box contained all the ingredients to get cooking!

Gourmet Wood Chips, Vaughn Wood Products

I don’t know too much about using wood chips for BBQing so I took this little blurb directly from the website, “These Hickory Chips are the best chips on the market. While filtering these chips removing all the dust, we have also kicked the larger chips to the side making for a more uniform and even burning chip. We recommend soaking our Wood Chips in water for 30 to 45 minutes prior to use. After soaking drain the water off, before laying on your charcoal/wood chunks and or chip box for the perfect smoke.”

Looks like this product will offer the perfect smoke to your BBQing masterpiece!

Mine, unfortunately, came with a small tear on it which left a little bit of a mess but, nothing that was a huge deal.

Basting Brush – Estimated Retail Value: $1.50

The perfect tool for getting all the sauces and rubs on the meat or for whatever you’re serving up on the BBQ! I love having a bunch of these around since they’re versatile and nice to have if you’re cooking multiple dishes.

Smoke Stack BBQ Rub, Gentry’s BBQ – Retail Value $6.00

This product is perfect to use on chicken, pork, or beef while offering the perfect kick to make your food taste bold and delicious. I also saw that you can sprinkle this on your potatoes or eggs to add that extra something. You may also use this on seafood as well but, I am not a fan of seafood so I’ll have to take their word for it. I can’t wait to experiment with this.

Cakalacki Gold Mustard Sauce, Gentry’s BBQ– Retail Value $8.00

I love good mustard. I’m one of those weird people who can eat mustard plain so I was thrilled to see this in the box. I really enjoyed the flavor and can picture myself using this as a dipping sauce all the time. Plus I absolutely love BBQ food so I’m excited to try this on more BBQ type foods.

Chorizo Sticks, Soupie Brothers – Retail Value $6.00

I am not normally a huge fan of chorizo but, these tasted pretty darn good. They’re unfortunately sold out on their website now, but, I wasn’t too surprised at that. These are a great snack to keep around the house.

Top Choice Supplements, Turmacin – Retail Value $14.95

There are many positive health benefits to taking turmeric, which Turmacin is a form of. This product is good for joints, pain relief, and using as an inflammatory. I can often forget to take my vitamins every day but, as long as I can remember I will definitely continue to add these to my daily regimen. Getting old is hard, so anything to help with random aches in pain is much welcomed in my book!

Overall Thoughts

For the price of this subscription box, and receiving the items needed to create some delicious BBQ food, you can’t really ask for much more.  I would not consider myself to be even close to a grill master but, with a box like this, I could learn so much. I was a bit surprised at how much I liked the chorizo sticks as well, considering that is not something I would think to buy on my own. I also plan to use the rest of the mustard in the future and try to season different kinds of meats and foods with the seasoning! I think the only downfall of this box is the price of shipping. I don’t mind paying a flat rate but, $14 is a bit pricey. However, this price varies and might be less depending on the area you’re from.

Update (9/4/2019): We’ve recently learned that shipping is free, however, the pricing has changed, refer to the above information for the newest prices.
