At first glance, the box that this came in was so adorable. I really liked all the yellow and bright colors. It immediately made me think of how summer is on the horizon and warmer weather is among us!  This helpful sheet was included in the box and gave a good breakdown of all the products. I also liked how thorough the descriptions were on both the sheet and on their website.

Super Comb Prep & Protect – Number 4

Retail Value for full size: $32

Unfortunately I am one of those people who has to torture their hair constantly with blow-drying and straightening it all the time. I’m always using products to help protect my hair against the heat, so I was very pleased to see this in the box. It has a really great smell and didn’t leave my hair feeling weighed down or greasy. While it is a bit expensive, it’s not much more than my normal product I use, so I’ll probably end up purchasing this soon since it worked really nice on my hair and I’ve already been able to sample it and know it’s reliable.

Perk Up Dry Shampoo – amika

Retail Value for full size: $25.00

I’ve purchased this product before and it’s definitely one of the better dry shampoos out there. I love the way it smells and it doesn’t leave my hair feeling bogged down or hard to comb through. I noticed some dry shampoos leave a white residue, and this one doesn’t at all.  My hair feels super smooth after using it and I definitely felt like my hair was ‘cleaner’ after just a bit of product.

Eye Do Liquid Eyeliner – Eyeko

Retail Value for full size: $22.00

I liked the way this product went on so smoothly when applying. While I didn’t go for a wing liner look, it still looked very beautiful on my eyes and didn’t smudge at all.  After reading the description, the product says that it will also ”… make lashes appear longer and fuller while enhancing lash growth for three times the length and volume in 15 days”. What?! That’s pretty cool in my opinion! I think for the price that makes it a really good investment. I haven’t used it for 15 days yet so I can’t say for sure if it’s improved my eyelashes but, I’m crossing my fingers that it will.

Miracle Balm – Dr. Lipp

Retail Value for full size: $16.50

I really liked this product because of its versatile use. You can use it on your skin, lips, to tame your brows, and it also will help soothe those nasty sunburns that occasionally happen during the summer months, Celebrity makeup artists and dermatologists love this product, so I had high expectations when I tried it. It doesn’t have a gross taste that some lip balms do when you apply on your lips and I can confirm they felt smoother than ever. It’s also not too expensive, so I can definitely see myself using this again, especially during the winter when the air leaves my skin feeling dry.

Lip Liner – Lipstick Queen (Color: Natural)

Retail Value for full size: $18.00

I was very “meh” on this product just because I rarely use lip liner but, I loved the color of this one that I received.  It wasn’t very dark, not too bright, and it’s one I actually may use in the future. I tend to use glosses if anything but, I will give this one a try with one of the matte lipsticks I have at home. It’s very soft, creamy, and doesn’t dry your lips out like some others do. You can also fill in your entire lip to achieve a smooth and pretty look.

BONUS ITEM: Eyeshadow set – Smashbox

Estimated Retail Value  of Sample: $10.00

When I signed up for Birchbox I was able to pick an additional gift/sample and I decided to go with this Smashbox eyeshadow duo. I really liked the colors and Smashbox is one of my favorite brands. The colors are very pigmented and beautiful and I could use both of these colors together to create a gorgeous look. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure out the exact value, only because on their website, from what I could find, the closet thing they offer is an eyeshadow ‘trio’ of three colors; not two so this is my best guess.

Overall I was quite impressed with the different kinds of samples the box included. It also opened my eyes up to some brands I’d never heard of, or probably wouldn’t have heard of without signing up. I also really liked the bonus gift I received. It’s the little things in life that can bring a smile to my face! If you’re someone who wants to try different kinds of makeup, beauty, skincare, hair products, etc. I think this box is really perfect for you. There’s not much commitment, as you can cancel at any time. They also have a decent loyalty program that allows you to build up points and cash in on those as you earn them. That’s pretty neat in my opinion, since we all know how expensive beauty products can get over time.
