I’ve been more of a homebody my entire life. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love to go out with friends, to the movies with my husband, or check out a concert, but deep down inside home is where I’m happiest. That’s one of the main reasons why I was so intrigued by the Date Night In Box. I don’t have to leave my home or get a sitter for my daughter, and my husband and I can still spend quality time together. Each month has a different theme curated to give you a fun night in with your significant other while not having to worry about the hassle of leaving home.  This month’s theme was “Dream Together” which I thought was a cute idea.

The first activity was to follow the optional dinner menu. My husband and I did not follow the entire dinner menu, only because we’ve both been dieting and trying our best to be somewhat good. The recipe itself was not unhealthy, but, we have been trying to be more carb-conscious. We did, make the salad, which turned out really delicious.  I inadvertently forgot to snap a picture while making it, but, had a lot of delicious fresh ingredients like vegetables and feta and we both liked it! We also enjoyed the beef jerky since we tend to eat a bunch of that on a low carb diet. It was really good, and I hope that I can find this brand again in the stores to purchase for us in the future.  We also lit the candle that came with the box during dinner time which is actually a little unusual for us. I love to burn candles and have the ambiance, but it’s not something we normally do during meal times. I liked this because it mixed up our normal routine dinner a little bit. Plus, the candle smells fantastic so that was nice! It instantly put us in an even better mood.

Another part of the date was to set the mood with a Spotify playlist. It was a little corny for us but, it was pretty decent for the most part. Again, it really stuck to the ‘Dream Together’ theme so I appreciate how much thought went into it. Some of the songs were not my husband’s kind of genre at all so we skipped over those. However, there were some classic songs from artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, The Everly Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, etc. so I thought it was a good mix and there were songs everyone who receives this box could enjoy.

The next part of the date was to create our ‘Dream Lists’. This was interesting because we both had to really think about our short-term goals. Our long-term goals really lined up with each other, and I felt we have been on the same page for those but, thinking short-term was a little bit more difficult. For myself, I think this was because I’m so busy with the daily grind of life that I often don’t think enough about what’s coming next. Being a working mom is hard. I’m constantly busy and barely have time for myself but, this made me consciously think about some important things. The box also came with a Scattergories game called “Scattegories Dreams”. I loved this part of the date! I’ve always really loved board games, so when I saw this in the box, I knew it would be perfect for us. It came with cute little pencils and a place to write down our ideas. I thought this was pretty cool, and we can play this another night as well.

The box also included a dream catcher to put together.  It comes with instructions, beads, feathers, string, and a ring to create this. We did not put this together since this wasn’t our kind of thing and I knew it wasn’t an activity that either of us would like. We decided we’d rather play the game and concentrate more on the discussion part of the box.

If we wanted to continue the date, there was an option to watch some movies on one of the last pages of the brochure. I have already seen quite a few on the list, so I could see how they fit into the theme. We decided that later this week we will try to watch one of them, just to get the most out of our experience. I find myself feeling pretty tired most nights after the daily chaos fades away but, I definitely think it’s a good way to spend time together without spending a ton of money and being able to just enjoy each other’s company.

Overall, I thought the box was very cute and put together nicely. There was a ton of stuff packed in the cute little box it came in! When I first opened it  I didn’t think this would be a very long “date” for us but, it really had a lot of amazing ideas and activities that we could do together.  Everything stuck to the theme too, so it felt very cohesive and well thought out.  I also like that the activities were things we wouldn’t have thought on our own. Also, as I mentioned, I really love playing board games so I was happy I had an excuse to have my husband play this with me! I think the time spent together is worth the price since we often get caught in the blur of everyday life and taking care of our daughter.
