FabFitFun Summer 2018 Box Layout fabfitfun mini magazine summer 2018

I like that FabFitFun sends out a magazine in each box. It shows all the various products that are available for customization as well as the items that all Give A Sip subscribers will receive.  If you are new to FabFitFun, I want to point out that they allow annual subscribers to choose between items in order to customize their boxes.  Please note, we will only be reviewing the products that we received in our box.  This box also included a paper straw in order to raise awareness for the Wildlife Conservation Society.  They are encouraging everyone to sign a pledge to give up single-use plastic straws and Give A Sip.

I will start with the products that all subscribers will receive.

Foreo Luna Fofo – Colors Vary

Retail Value $89

Leading up to receiving the box, this was the product that was getting a lot of buzz on social media.  Personally, I had never heard of such a gadget and had to do some research on what this cute little gadget does.  Turns out, Foreo uses sonic pulsations which massages, cleanses and gently exfoliates the face.  foreo - Summer FabFitFunThe cleaning surface is made with soft silicone bristles, which are nonporous and resist bacteria buildup.  On the backside, it has two gold sensors that when used in conjunction with their app will measure the hydration level of your skin and provide personalized tips for your skincare routine.  To be honest, my skincare routine is next to nothing.  My mornings start with a quick wipe with a warm washcloth followed by some blemish-fighting primer.  At night I wash my makeup off with cleanser and pat it dry.  ForeoOther than a few blackheads around my nose, I am quite happy with my skin.  That being said,  I couldn’t wait to give this hi-tech gadget a shot and see what all the fuss was about.  The morning after using it for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t irritate my normally very sensitive skin.  I have now used it for a total of 3 nights and I can without a doubt tell you that my skin feels softer and the blackheads around my nose have all but disappeared.

Pier 1 Imports-  Marble Ring Dish

Retail Value $14.99Pier 1 Summer 2018 FABFITFUN

While I know this is a ring dish, I actually needed a new bar soap dish for my bathroom.  As soon as I saw this classy ceramic dish, I knew it would be perfect for that use.  I love the marble design and the gold-trimmed edges.  I also really appreciate that it was packaged securely to ensure it didn’t break in route.

COOLA Face SPF 50 White Tea Organic Sunscreen Lotion

Retail Value $32Coola Sunscreen

Described as, “An antioxidant-rich, SPF 50 facial sunscreen that’s water- and sweat-resistant for up to 80 minutes.”  I do have sensitive skin, so I’m never sure how I will react to a new sunscreen.  I applied this over the course of 3 days and haven’t had any negative reactions.  It is very lightweight and isn’t as greasy as other facial sunscreens that I have tried in the past.  After doing a little research on this product, I did discover that it contains 70%+ ingredients that are organic, however, it isn’t a fully organic sunscreen.

Moving on to the items that could be customized by select members.

Summer & Rose Beach TowelSummer & Rose Beach towel

Retail Value $55

FabFitFun collaborated with Rocky Barnes, to create this over-sized beach towel.  This beautiful towel is made out of soft microfiber, which means the sand won’t stick to it.  Personally, I wouldn’t pay $55 for a beach towel, so I was happy to have this included in the box.  I love the pineapple print and the teal background color.  It measures 39 X 72 inches, which is the perfect size for me.  I haven’t brought this to the beach yet since the PNW weather didn’t cooperate with my beach plans last weekend.  However, this is the perfect addition to my ever-ready beach bag and the colors are so perfect for summertime.

Jaboneria Marianella

Retail Value $48

This product is rather intimating coming out of the box, but it sparked my interested since it is a body scrub.  I have a brand of body scrubs that I am already in love with so I wanted to see how this compares.  My first impression wasn’t great for a multitude of reasons.  The smell is overpowering and not in a good way.Jaboneria Marianella Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar However, in the name of research, I went ahead and used it in the shower as a leg exfoliate.  I had to stir this for about two minutes before the oil and salt turned into a usable paste, even after that the oil separated again in less than one minute.  The paste went on rather smooth, but there wasn’t much of the exfoliating scrub feeling that I’m used to.  I was happy that right after rinsing it off, the smell went away.  After patting my legs dry I did notice that they seemed a bit softer.  One of my favorite things about body scrubs are the delicious smells, and this scrub falls short in that area.  Needless to say, I won’t buy this product in the future.  It was interesting to try it though!

Elemis Enzyme Papaya Peel

Retail Value $45

Elemis Enzyme Papaya Peel

Elemis describes this peel as, “Exfoliate and purify tired, lackluster skin. Non-abrasive, skin is left soft, revitalized and radiant.”  I read a few reviews on this product before trying it on my skin, to make sure it was ok to use on sensitive skin.  After some research, I decided to give it a go.  I only left it on for about 8 mins (instead of the suggested 10-15 mins) to be sure it wouldn’t harm my skin.  I didn’t have any negative reactions and I didn’t notice a huge difference after one use.  It states to use this peel twice a week.  So I waited a few days and tried it again.  I was pleased with the second use and am noticing that my skin is starting to look brighter.

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator

Retail Value $29

Vasanti Brighten Up

I really loved this exfoliator and face cleanser. I tend to be more cautious about exfoliators because with my skin I find they either get really dry from them or my face tingles and burns a little afterward. Neither of these happened after I used it though. My face felt so smooth and moisturized after I used it in the shower, and the smell was really terrific.  I also noticed you can use the product up to 5 times a week which normally you’re limited to only 1-3 with other products. I’ll definitely be adding this to my facial routine and feel confident using it often without any negative results. I have only used it a couple of times so I’m not sure if my face really ‘glowed’ afterward but, just the feeling of it being so smooth and not dried out, makes me want to continue using it.

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Highlight & Contour Palette

Retail Value $45

Tarte Pro Glow

This product alone makes this box stand out so much, given it’s already HIGHER than the value of the entire box! If you are like me, you understand that contouring can be quite intimidating. Practice really does make perfect, so I definitely suggest giving it a try if you’re new to makeup but also wanting a fabulous sculpted look. Or if you’re an expert – you must get this palette!  I swatched these colors and I really, really love the way they look. The highlighters glow so perfectly, and the different shades are guaranteed to give you the perfect contour look. The shades are:Pro Glow Swatches

Lit (champagne highlight)

Strobe (pearl highlight)

Fire (bronze highlight)

Stunner (Opalescent highlight)

Shade (Cream contour)

Sculpt (powder contour)

My favorite highlighter shade was by far Lit. Who doesn’t want a champagne highlight look? I’m all about looking glowy and standing out when I highlight, so this is the perfect shade. I am also not the best contour (for lack of a better term ;)) so Shade was kind of intimidating to me due to it being a cream contour. It does glide on really easily, so if you’re comfortable with cream contouring, you will like this one a lot. It also didn’t go on too cakey which is never a good thing. Sculpt offered an amazing look as well. My number one tip for contouring is not to get TOO much on the brush you use because it’s sometimes next to impossible to make your contour look good after you have too much product on your face. That being said, I find powders to be better for myself.  I also highly recommend you check out this video if you’re a beginner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVD_1K5PCRc

I still consider myself to be a beginner, and I still look up How-To videos all the time for makeup.

Overall

Overall this box is one that would please almost any subscriber!  FabFitFun has been one of my favorite boxes for over 2 years and this was one of the best boxes I have received.  I really like that I am able to customize portions of my box.  I paid $45 for the box (annual membership at $179.99).  The overall retail prices for items in this box come to $357.99.  Granted, I wouldn’t pay full price for most of the items, but given that the Tarte palette alone is worth what I paid for the box, the rest is the icing on the cake.  We are honored to be #FabFitFunPartners and hope that you will enjoy this box, just as much as we have.
