Fun in the Box is specially curated to not only be fun for the kids but also to help promote quality time with family.  When I first started researching this box, I wasn’t quite sure what they might look like.  As an adult, I have found it hard to play with my son at times.  I am great with science projects, crafts, or anything that has an end result.  However try as I might, sitting down and playing with toys has never been my forte.  Therefore, I was pretty excited to see what this box might have in store for us.  The box we were sent to review is an example of what an 8+-year-old girl would receive.

Rose Gold Lightbox – Retail Value: $19.99

My personal favorite item in the box was this Rose Gold Lightbox.  I know this box is curated for an eight-year-old girl, but I have been dreaming of getting something like this for a while.  Plus rose gold is such a fun accent color.  I’m thinking this will be a perfect addition to our guest bedroom.  A welcoming message and a night light all in one will be a delightful surprise to anyone who visits, you know…once it is safe to have guests again.  The plastic case of this lightbox feels a bit on the flimsy side, but since it is more for looks than a toy, I’m ok with that.

DIY Bouncy Ball – Retail Value: $9.98

This product must be the one that helps us spend some quality time with each other.  While it didn’t take long to make the bouncy balls, it was very enjoyable to sit outside and get creative together.  My son and I had a lot of fun mixing and matching colors for each one.  They all turned out pretty good too and then we got to play with them for hours.  One week later and they are still bouncing all over the house.  He and I had actually tried our hand at making homemade bouncy balls a few years ago, but they didn’t turn out well since we didn’t have a good mold.  We are thinking about using the included mold to give it another go in the future.  Overall, this was a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon together!

Bath Confetti – Estimated Retail Value: $5.99

While I really like to take baths, I’m pretty sensitive to rose scents.  I decided to keep this to gift to one of my nieces in the future.  My nieces are always happy to take bath fuzzies off my hands.  This should be a fun one for them to try out since it is a little different than a typical bath bomb that I send their way.

Pixie Crew Wristband – Retail Value: $6.47

This glow in the dark wristband was unique.  I haven’t ever seen anything like it.  Although it really isn’t my son’s style, he still had fun messing around with the pixels.  One thing he noticed was there there wasn’t enough pixels to cover the full wristband.  He mentioned that he thought that was odd.  I plan to bring this to one of my nieces once we are all out of quarantine and see what they think of this product.  Personally, I’m not a huge fan of it…but I’m also not the target audience for this product so it is hard to say.  I do like the idea behind it though and of course, I like that it glows in the dark, because that always fascinates me.

Overall

Once again, I’m not an 8-year-old girl, however, I can say that I am a fan of this box as a whole.  While I wasn’t sold on the wristband, the rest of the contents made up for it.  If I were an 8-year-old girl, I would be super pumped to get this box in the mail!  This would be the perfect gift to send to any kids on your list.  Fun in the Box offers subscriptions for seasonal boxes or one time boxes making it flexible to suit your needs.  I will be keeping an eye on this box and what they include in boxes for my son’s age range, since I think he would love to be signed up for this box.  One thing of note is that Fun in the Box is based in Canada, so when you are on their site all of their prices will be listed in CAD, however, they do ship to the US and the conversion brings the price from $50 CAD to $35/box USD.
