If you’re a long time follower of us, then it will come at no surprise to you that I, Noelle, am a makeup addict. There, I said it. I’ve been wearing makeup since I was in middle school and have gone through all the funny and embarrassing trends out there. Many years ago, I was a subscriber of Ipsy when only the Glam Bag with deluxe samples was the subscription. I’ve been toying with the idea of subscribing again, and as you can see I finally did it.

March’s theme is “Celebrate You” in honor of their 100th Glam Bag. I sure did choose a great time to sign up since as a special thank you, Ipsy included 6 full-size products in this month’s bag! I was able to customize one of them and I thought that was awesome they offer that. If you want to be surprised each month you’re still able to but, if you want to know at least one of your products and pick it, then you have that option as well.

The box that I received is Box 102MA20 which I have no idea what that all means but, I know some other makeup subscription boxes label/number their boxes. Can anyone shed light on this?

I love the makeup bag that was in this month’s box. The colors are really nice and I love the neon look. I also love the “Unstoppable” print on the front inside because that’s what I keep telling myself I need to be right now!

Before I discuss what was in my bag, I want to give a quick PSA. Please do not be offended if I mention a product below that you love! One of the greatest things about makeup is there are so many good brands out there and varieties. of products Just because something does not work for me, does not mean it cannot work for you! If you love it, I love it for you. This review is my opinion only.

Okay now, let’s go!

Body Moisturizer in Sweet Pineapple & Honey Melon, Hempz – Retail Value $10.59 (for full size, this one is only 2.25 fl oz)

I love Hempz’s lotions! They make my skin super smooth and they really help quench my skin during the dry months. Also, since I have been washing my hands so much more often (probably too much, ha) I really need a lot more hand lotion these days. I love the combination of these 2 delicious fruits together. The scent lingers for some time so I love randomly picking up the scent throughout the day. Originally I wanted to gift this to a friend of mine but decided to allow myself to use it since I’m unsure of when I’ll see her again.

Day2Nite AutoBalm Palette, TheBalm Cosmetics – Retail Value $26.50

This palette comes with a good mixture of different shades to create both a daytime and a nighttime glam look. According to the description, getting a smoky eye look can be super easy with this palette and is small enough to put in your purse or pack in your luggage for ‘on the go’. At first glance, I found the shadows to be okay although, they apear to be a little lackluster.  I was, however, in love with the design! Details like this set brands apart so I really enjoy this.

The black primer is really cool. I’ve never seen this before and was anxious to try it out. The shimmer shades drew my eye almost immediately especially Haight St. However, this was somewhat short-lived. After applying the primer, the shadows were pretty hard to blend. The colors looked very patchy and the texture of them felt chalky. I also had quite a bit of fall out on my face.  Based on this experience and usage of the palette I really can’t recommend buying this palette. For over $26 I can recommend some other cute and compactable ones. If you look at the swatches below, you can see they come off quite patchy even not on the eyelids.

However, one thing I will say is I love the details of this palette. There’s also a pull tab on the right-hand side of it so you can use this as a to-go container for bobby pins, clips, etc. for travel purposes. How cute! I will check out the brand some more and see if they have other higher recommended products.

Swatched from bottom – top: Wall St, Lombard St, Haight St, Madison Ave, Beacon St, Hollywood Blvd, Las Vegas Blvd, and the top is Black Primer

Matte Liquid Lipstick in “Undercover”, Phase Zero Make Up – Retail Value $16

This was the hit of the box for me! Not only is the shade gorgeous but, this stuff has staying power. It applies so smoothly and dries down to a gorgeous matte finish. I drink water all day long so I find that even with the long-wear lipsticks, I reapply them a few times a day. However, I only had to reapply this one time! I wore it from 8 am – 2:30 pm and the color stayed vibrant and in place.

Revitalizing Eye Gel, Malin + Goetz – Retail Value $42

I’ve only used this product a few times so far but, I do love the way it feels under my eyes. I’m still somewhat exploring my skincare routine and attempting to find a perfect combination of the right care for myself. I’m hesitant to add a lot of new products at the moment because of that. I will try to use this more often as my skin clears up more. It’s also suggested to pop this product in the fridge for a better cooling effect so I will try this soon.

Luna Liner Water-Proof Resistant Liquid Eyeliner (Black), Seraphine Botanicals – Retail Value $18

I also love using new eyeliners so this was very much welcomed. Being a creature of habit, I wear black eyeliner almost daily so I can go through it pretty quickly. I like the tip of this liner and it was very easy to use. It also dries quickly which I love because I had when my liner smudges or bleeds all over my lid. This product is also vegan so that’s a huge plus in my book!

Precision Concealer Brush, Complex Culture – Retail Value $26*

*I forgot to snap a photo of this, sorry for the stick picture!

I’m always wary of any kind of makeup brush. I find a lot of them just don’t work very well, especially concealer brushes. I don’t know if it’s because my skin is texturized but, it feels like it leaves lines and I like my makeup blended really well. However, this concealer brush actually was amazing. I’ve been using it almost daily and I’m very happy with how well it blends. It also has the perfect triangle shape so you can blend the concealer super easily in the harder to reach places like the corner of your eye. I normally would not spend this much on a brush either but, this one is well worth the price.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I was pretty pleased with the majority of the items I got in my bag this month. To be fair, this is the first time I’ve received this bag so Ipsy asks subscribers to review products to better match them each month. Also, when signing up, they ask you specific details about your hair, skin, eye color, etc. so try and make the products tailored to each subscriber versus everyone receiving the same exact items. The price of the box (total value) adds up to $139.09 which is a savings of $114.09 with the box being $25/month. The fact that I even got the concealer brush, the lotion, and the lipstick, makes the bag completely worth it for me.

It will be fun to see what I get over the next few months and see if I notice any trends. If I compare this to another makeup/beauty box from the blog, I like the larger variety of items and the fact that not everyone gets the same products every month. I want to be subscribed for at least a few months though before I give my complete thoughts.

One thing to add and that I love about Ipsy is the ability to “pause” a bag for as long as you need it. This is much more convenient than going through the cancelation process for temporary breaks.

What did you get in your bag last month? Did you like all your products?
