Maibox Insert Card

When MAI box reached out to us, we decided it would be a perfect box for us to review, since we are both busy moms.  Noelle and I both have full-time jobs, our blog, and each has one child.  If that doesn’t scream busy, I’m not sure what does.  So when a box that promises to pamper me offers to send me a box to review?  Sign me up!  Above is the insert that was included in the October box, I liked that they broke down the retail value of each piece, however, was initially confused because I was thinking they included the packs of items (for example, I thought my box would have a 6 pack of lip balm).  Also included in our box was a handwritten Thank You card.

Infinity Scarf

Listed Retail Value: $6.99

With the Fall weather in full force, I was happy to receive this item in the box.  The material is very soft and it fits me perfectly.  I actually don’t have a lot of scarfs so this is great to add to my closet.  I really like that black too so I can pair it with any outfit that needs some added warmth.

Daily Fresh – Super Seven Mixed Nuts

Retail Value: $2.25 (75 cents each packet)

What busy mom doesn’t need a stash of purse snacks that will keep her going even during the most stressful days?  These are the perfect treats to have on hand to fight off the dreaded Hangry Mom Syndrome.  The retail value was listed at a $19.94 value on the insert, I’m thinking that must have been a typo, from my research I have a 24 pack running for $17.95.

Color Changing Monday Mug

Listed Retail value: $7.95

I start every morning with a cup of coffee and generally follow it with a cup of afternoon tea.  So a new cute mug is always appreciated.  I really like the idea of this one being thermal color changing mug too.  People at my office thought it was the coolest thing.  The picture to the right shows this mug halfway through the transformation.  My only gripe with this mug is that it never changes white enough for the little circle under the lips to disappear completely.

Sky Organics Lip Balm – Eucalyptus Mint

Retail Value: $2.16

A good chap-stick is always a neat little surprise to get in a subscription box.  I feel like I’m always losing the ones that I have.  I like that this one is USDA Organic and after looking at their site was happy to see that the company also uses ethically sourced ingredients.  This is a chap-stick that I can feel good about using.   I am really digging the eucalyptus mint scent too.

Barefoot Foot Cream – Lavender Mint

Retail Value: $6.66

I didn’t think I would be a fan of this lotion.  As a busy mom, I couldn’t see myself taking the time to use this on my feet and legs.  Generally, I do a really good sugar scrub once a week and my skin stays soft year-round.  Since I got it in the box I gave it a try, every other night for one week.  It was a nice thick product and absorbed well into my skin.  The fragrance isn’t terribly strong either, which was a plus since I normally don’t like floral scents.  While I can’t say it improved my skin, I can say it was very relaxing to give myself a mini foot massage.

Tangle Free Cable Turtle Organizers

Retail Value: $3.57

To be honest, I had no clue what these were for.  From what I understand you can use them to organize earphones or other small cables.  I’m not sure I will use this product since I don’t really have a need for it.  I’m thinking it might make a cute stocking stuffer for my teenage nephew though.

Bossypants (Paperback) – By Tina Fey

Retail Value: $9.59

I love to read.  However, since starting this blog, my reading time has taken a serious hit. Most of my free time is devoted to my family and by the time my son is in bed I generally am sitting down to put finishing touches on reviews or editing the product pictures.  So I was excited to get a new book to dive into.  Now I’m working on making the time to read it.  I am only about 20 pages in so far, but I can say it has been laughing quite a bit already.  I look forward to finishing this in the next week or so.

Overall

This is a box that subscribers would get once every two months.   I have noticed with some boxes once a month just feels like it is too much.  I could see how every other month would be more economical for a lot of mommas out there that want to treat themselves, but not every month.   I really liked how this October box had subtle “fall/winter” vibes to it.  I could see myself giving my feet some much-needed love and then curling up on the couch with a hot cup of tea and a good book.  And of course, the scarf and chapstick are always needed this time of year.
