Mom Things

The level of attention to detail in the packaging is amazing.  While the box is rather simple, the contrast of colors looks gorgeous.  I adore the slogan on the inside as well since it makes a charming statement upon opening.  Then to have the sticker and tissue that coordinates beautifully with everything else, just shows how well thought out the packaging was.

I like that the insert included a little information on each item as well as details as to why they felt each item was important to include.  The picture of Julie and Brooke is helpful too since it gives me a personal feel.

Magnetic Pen – Estimated Retail Value: $3.99

At first, I thought this pen was really odd.  It is flexible and feels like silicon on the end with the magnet.  I put it up on my fridge anyway, since who doesn’t need an extra pen in the kitchen?  I came to really like the pen itself.  I still feel weird using it since the weight of the magnet throws me off a bit, but I feel that I’ll come to really love this item.  I have never seen anything like this product, so I thought it was neat to get something that unique.

BIOAQUA Skin Care, Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask – Retail Value: $8.98

I’m always hesitant to try new products on my face since I have very sensitive skin.  I did a small test and it seemed like it would be ok.  So I got to work on applying this bubbling mask with the plastic applicator (see time-lapse video below).  Right off the bat, it started to tingle.  After about three minutes the mask started to bubble up and felt like it was clearing my pores and tightening my skin.  I ended up starting to rise it off after five minutes.  Removing it was really easy with a nice warm washcloth.  My skin looked flawless when I was finished!  I can’t wait to use this again next week.  This was a fun product to try!

Painted Clothes Pins

I think these were more of extra items since they weren’t mentioned on the insert.  I have been using them as bag clips.

Thank You Notes – Retail Value: $7.48

These are super cute thank you notes, and I had actually just run out of my other set so I really appreciated getting these.  The glitter detail on the tassels is delightful. I would have preferred they were either in a sleeve or box though, since the paint from the above-mentioned cloth pins rubbed off on the majority of the cards and envelopes.

Frother – Estimated Retail Value $5

This was the item I was most excited about trying.  I kept seeing videos in the Mom Thing’s Instagram stories of happy subscribers using this frother to make gourmet coffee at home.  It was wonderful that batteries were included too since I was out of those at the time of opening this box.  My frother had issues, the spring broke off upon the first use.  I went ahead and let Mom Things know of the issue and the emailed back within an hour that a new item was on the way.  It was nice to see such a high level of attention to a problem.

Once I received the replacement frother, I was in paradise.  This is an item that I never knew I needed.  It makes my home-brewed coffee look and taste like a gourmet cup of java.

Blenders Eyewear, Rose Theater Polarized Sunglasses – Retail Value: $45

Rose-colored glasses are in right now and this beautiful pair was pretty impressive.  I have gotten sunglasses in previous subscription boxes and typically I see relatively inexpensive pairs.  Needless to say, I was expecting this to be another pair of what I call, costume sunglasses.  Sunglasses that I can easily change with my mood and not bat an eye if my son accidentally crushes them while we are playing.  These were not that.  I love the polarized look of these against the black frame.  It is such a fun contrast that it got me excited about Springtime.  Also, the arms feel very sturdy so I’m thinking they will last a while for me.

Overall

Solely based on price, this is a great subscription box.  The sunglasses, which I loved,  are worth more than the monthly cost!  I also really enjoyed the bubble mask and the coffee frother.  That being said,  I feel that Mom Things could curate their future boxes a bit more to flow with each other.  And while I understand the inclusion of each product, this box felt a little random to me.  The box and the packaging materials all coordinated so well that I felt like the items would also be complementary to each other.  I think as this is only their third box, that Mom Things is heading in the right direction.  I see a great path for this new company to grow on in the future and I can’t wait to see where they head next!
