Both of us were incredibly fortunate to meet the founder of Mother Snacker a few weeks ago at a local coffee shop. We all live in the same general area in the Pacific Northwest, so it worked out perfectly! The instant we met her, we hit it off and absolutely loved the meaning and idea of what made her start her box. All of us are moms to one kid each, and we all admit that even having one kiddo can be challenging. Another thing we all have in common is we’re all working moms outside of the home and can often struggle to find a little bit of time for ourselves with life always being so busy. This box is designed for moms of all shapes and sizes whether that be a new mom struggling to get into the grove of motherhood, a mom who is exhausted and can’t get enough coffee, a mom who’s had just one of those days, a stay at home mom who is overwhelmed with being with the kids all day, etc. I don’t think there’s a single mom out there who couldn’t benefit from this box!

Let’s get into all the goodies that were in this box!

Collapsible Bottle by Que

Retail Value:  $19.95

This water bottle is so cool and innovative. Previously, I had heard of these bottles before so I was excited to see this in the box.  The bottle is really easy to pull apart or collapse it down so that’s a huge plus to be able to grab this when I’m headed out of the house and then stuff it in my purse or my daughter’s backpack for when we’re on the go. With it being lightweight I didn’t even notice it was in there until I went to go fill it up. I really loved that because I hate carrying around anything big or bulky when I travel.  I also read on the information sheet that was provided in the box that Que is hoping to make an impact to fight and protect our natural resources and I always feel good supporting such a good cause and supporting a not for profit organization.  It’s also dishwasher safe, so no need to worry about having to take the extra couple minutes to scrub it after use.

Mom Coloring Book for Adults (includes colored pencils) by The Coloring Book People

Retail Value: $10.00 (included book & coloring pencils)

I used to color in books all the time, and I’m honestly not even sure why I stopped. I always found this activity to be extremely relaxing and it allowed me to not have to think about work, cleaning the house, errands I had to run, etc. It was my time and I think I’m like a lot of parents and I often forget to give that to myself on a daily basis. I’m a firm believer that everyone needs to dedicate at least 30 minutes to some kind of mindful activity and I think coloring books are a great way to achieve that. I really loved the theme of the book because it was really funny and relatable. I find that when I’m stressed I like humor to cheer me up, and some of the phrases in this book had me cracking up. I will definitely continue using it for days when I need a break or I just want to have something entertaining to do.

Kind Minis(Caramel, Almond & Sea Salt & Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate)

Retail Value: $2.00

I love Kind Bars and would eat them every day if it was possible. I find that they’re the perfect snack because they contain nuts for healthy fats and protein but, they also have a sweet side to them as well. I liked the sea salt aspect of the caramel & almond bar. Since they are minibars, they are really easy to toss into a bag or your purse for a quick snack. I’ve taken them when I’ve traveled before as well as on airplanes or a long card ride. My daughter doesn’t eat these yet because we don’t really give her almonds or any other kinds of nuts but, this mama was able to enjoy them and I’m not sorry about it! I definitely plan to pick these up in the future. I see them all the time at Target, so it’s an easy buy since, let’s face it, I would live there if that was allowed.

Deep Dark Chocolate Chews by Salty Road

Retail Value: $10.00

These may be my new favorite treats! They reminded me of candy I used to eat all the time at my grandparent’s house when I was little so it gave me a lot of nostalgia when I sampled them. The dark chocolate flavor isn’t incredibly overpowering so I think even if you weren’t a fan of dark chocolate, you would still like these. The taffy texture is really delightful and it almost melts in your mouth.   I was considering putting these out for guests in the future since I’ve been watching what I am eating but, I think I may have to be selfish and keep these for myself!

Artisan Tarts by Megpies (Cinnamon & Brown Sugar)

Retail Value: $3.75

This was another snack that brought me back to my childhood. Growing up I used to love all the homemade baked goods my grandmother made for all of us, and this reminded me of those and also the classic Poptarts that I ate before school in the mornings. Okay, who am I kidding, I still eat these occasionally (I’m a sucker for the blueberry ones). My daughter enjoyed this treat with me and ate it right up. She kept asking for more “pie” and probably would have eaten the entire thing if I had allowed her. After looking on their website, I think I’ll end up ordering one of the assortment boxes so my family and I can enjoy the other kinds of flavors as well. It will take some restraint though not to eat them all right away!

Original Chocolate Chunk Cookie by Cougar Mountain

Retail Value: $1.75

This was probably my least favorite snack in the box but, it was still good. I do love cookies, don’t get me wrong, but, I don’t think you can beat that fresh out of the oven cookie taste.  I would not purchase this again in the future but, I know my daughter really liked it so that was a win in my book. You can also purchase the cookie dough in the grocery stores, so I might give that a shot rather than buying the premade ones. It didn’t have the flavor I was expecting so I think that’s why it wasn’t a big hit for me.

Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn by Funky Chunky

Retail Value: $3.50

I had a hard time controlling myself around this popcorn, it was THAT good. It was a perfect combination of caramel, butter, sugar, and dark chocolate. I really enjoy snacks that are a combination of savory and sweet, and I wouldn’t necessarily call this snack that but, the saltiness of the popcorn really added something to it. Even though I do love sweets, if I eat something that is too sweet, I can’t enjoy a ton of it. The saltiness broke up some of that sweet flavor making it more enjoyable to me.  I could have easily eaten the entire bag had I not found the self-control within me to stop.  This is another snack that is tempting to not share but, I know my daughter would really like this so, I will share with her as an occasional treat. I also think this would make a perfect gift for someone because of how delicious it is and it’s a nice way to remind someone you care about them.

Overall Thoughts

My overall thoughts on this box were that this is the absolute perfect box for moms to treat themselves. Motherhood is hard, and I don’t think many people like to point that out or discuss it. I love that this box can really benefit any kind of mom out there. It’s easy to become so wrapped up in life, and receiving a box like this every month would be like Christmas morning each time, since you don’t know what you’ll be getting, but you know it’s going to be really awesome. Even taking a tiny bit of time while I reviewed this box was a really nice and relaxing way to treat myself after a long work week.

As a bonus, we were also given a sneak peek of a smaller box that The Mother Snacker is planning to launch in the coming months.

It contained a whole bunch of goodies including inspirational sayings, candy, treats, and a cute bag that says “Snack Like a Mother”. This would make a great gift for a mom to remind her how important she is and to brighten her day.
