As a huge, huge, huge animal lover, I could not be more thrilled that NomNomNow reached out to us and asked us to review their subscription pet-food service. I currently have 2 beautiful kitties who mean everything to me, so feeding them nutrient-rich and healthy foods is very important to me. I want them to live a very full life, and as we all know, diet is a big part of living a long and healthy life.
As you probably guessed, I am reviewing the cat food subscription service through NomNomNow. They offer food, and other products for dogs as well but, since I do not have any, I will only be focusing on the cat meals and other items.

NomNomWow sent me over 2 boxes. One box contained enough food to feed my kitties for a few weeks. They also over some cat goodies, including chicken jerky, probiotics, and Microbiome Testing Kit.
The consistency of the food was a little hard to deal with at first since I’m used to feeding my cats dry food but, eventually it wasn’t too bad. The new food was a much-welcomed treat for Asher & Penny!
This was the Chicken Meow option. As you can see, everything looks completely fresh and as the packaging says..it looks like chicken! Since the food doesn’t have weird preservatives, it’s important to read all the instructions and keep the food in the refrigerator until it’s ready for consumption by your furry friend. You can also freeze food for up to 6 months which is extremely convenient, especially if you’re adding this to your pet’s diet for variety and don’t go through the food as quickly as the subscription sends it.
Asher was a little bit warier of the food and didn’t eat quite as much. Maybe it was the consistency? It could also be that he’s a pretty skittish cat, and I was trying to get pictures of him eating so he felt some anxiety with me standing over him. He’s not a finicky eater so I was a little surprised at his reaction. Penny went crazy over it and helped Asher finish his first serving.
The second time around Asher was much more welcoming of the new food so I think it was a fluke and the environment at that time. I let him be and he finished his food without hesitation.
My cats went nuts over the chicken jerky. As noted on the package, there was nothing but chicken in this treat. No ingredients I couldn’t name, and no weird chemicals.
I noticed that the texture of the treats was pretty tough so that made them kind of hard to break up into smaller pieces. However, my cats happily ate them right up and I felt good knowing I was giving them a treat that was healthy for them.
I was really glad that NomNomNow included some probiotics for my cats to have. I know healthy digestion is extremely important for humans, so I could only assume it’s just as important for pets.
This product was really easy to use. You put one scoop (scoop is provided in the container) into your pet’s food each day and they have the full support they need. I really hope it’s improved my cat’s digestive system. They don’t have issues normally so it’s hard to compare if anything has made a difference yet.
Last was the Microbiome Testing Kit.

Everything was included in order to collect a sample and send it off to the laboratory for testing!
I liked how the instructions were very easy to understand and it was clear how to use this kit, even without going to the website to look up the steps. Honestly, though, I won’t lie about this collection process…this part was pretty gross to me. I barely like scooping the litter box, to begin with, let alone taking a sample. As much as I love animals, I definitely don’t think I’m cut out for any kind of professional career in the animal world.
Another issue I had was my cats share litter boxes so I didn’t know whose sample was whose since I had to collect from the litter box and wasn’t able to hover over them waiting for them to use the little box. I am hoping there’s a way it would let me know but, we shall see! In about 2-5 weeks, I should have my results back about one of my pets and I’m pretty excited! Well, excited and nervous. I really hope nothing bad comes back.
Overall Thoughts
I really like this service for pets. While I think it’s naturally going to be a little more expensive than just the normal everyday store food for cats, if you truly can splurge and give your pets some healthy food, this is a good way to go. My cats are part of my family and I want to offer them healthy choices, just like I do for my family. Fortunately, I do not have this issue but, if your pet has weight issues, this would be an extremely beneficial subscription for them. One of the questions that NomNomNow asks when subscribers first sign up is what your pet’s healthy weight is. This helps determine how much food they should be eating each day. How nice is that not only do you know exactly what your cat or dog is eating, and you can have zero guilt over what the ingredients are but, NomNomNow takes care of the guesswork out of determining how much your pet should be eating. My cats are not huge chowhounds (unless it comes to treats) but, I can imagine how that could be frustrating when worrying if you’re giving too much or too little to your pet. Also, another thing to mention is that subscribers can also skip deliveries, or cancel at any time.
