When I say this was a large box, I mean it was a LARGE box.  The outside sparked my interest with the Let’s Get Cozy quote.  I knew I was in for a real treat before even opening the package.  Inside this massive box, was all of the supplies that a subscriber would need to make a winter sign and garland.  The paint was packed in adorable little jars and carefully bubble wrapped to avoid breakage during shipping.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to complete this craft as beautifully as the insert showed.  My penmanship has always been lacking.  But then I noticed the handy reusable stencil that was included!

One thing to note is that typically first-time subscribers will also get a starter kit with their first month.  The kit includes a paintbrush, sanding block, hot glue gun, and glue sticks.  Since I received this box for review, I didn’t get the Starter Kit.  Luckily I had all of the supplies on hand and was able to proceed with the project.

Directions

The front side of the insert showed what the completed project could look like.  On the back of the insert was easy to follow directions.  I especially loved the QR code that took me to video instructions for the project.  Another thing that I thought was cool was that there was enough paint to do variations of the design.  Want to do a red background with white lettering…have at it.  Since crafting can be a really personal hobby, the allowed flexibility is wonderful.  Personally, I opted for the original design, since I knew it would match my home decor.

Sign Project

This project was a breeze to complete.  Between the written directions and the video instruction, I had a clear idea of what to expect every step of the way.  For me, the hardest part was trusting the process.  For instance, I was told to leave a gap on the edge when painting the white background and then come back to cut it in.  For me, that felt really awkward however in the end it made a huge difference.  Also, the grey wash on the frame wasn’t something that I had done before so I learned a new trick.

Garland Project

I decided to do my garland a bit differently.  The copper paint I decided to use gave my final craft a little bit of shine.  And while I’m not 100% sure that I love the way it turned out, I was happy to step outside of my comfort zone a bit.  Most likely I will keep my sign up in my bedroom all year round, and just spruce it up during the holidays with this garland.

Overall

Project Home DIY curated an incredibly fun project for December.  I have always loved crafting and completing projects such as these.  However, I don’t find joy in the planning process.  Mainly going to the store and finding the needed materials.  Somehow I always end up lost in the aisles and unsure if I am buying the correct items.  This subscription box took the hassle out of the equation and left me with pure satisfaction.  To top it off, my completed sign looks amazing in my home and matches my aesthetic perfectly!  I’m still unsure if I love the garland, however it makes a nice addition to the sign for the holiday season.  If you love arts and crafts or know someone who does, check out Project Home DIY.
