Unboxing
I’m sure most of you know that Target offers one time Beauty Boxes. They are different from a typical subscription box in two ways. First, you get to see what comes in the box before you order, which makes it incredibly easy to see if the box will be a good fit for you or not. Second, there is no subscription, it is just the box you order…nothing further. Now, I have been looking for some new products to add to my routine and figured now was a great time to finally try out the Target Beauty Boxes. I ended up buying three different boxes since I couldn’t make up my mind on which one to get! All three boxes are included in the above unboxing video. However, for the sake of this review, I will focus on just the Spring Travel box (Out of Office) box.
Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner Facial Mist -3 fl oz
Retail: $4.49
“A unique blend of pore-cleansing rose water and certified organic aloe vera cleanses, tones, moisturizes, and balances the skin’s pH level, revealing a gorgeous, glowing complexion.”
This is the product that got me to buy this beauty box! Noelle has been telling me to get a toner and she actually had suggested the Thayers brand to me. So when I saw that this toner was included I figured I really had nothing to lose. I haven’t used the toner enough to have a solid idea on if I like it or not. However, it is very refreshing to spray on my face so I have been using it almost every day.
Nexxus Therappe Ultimate Moisture Shampoo – 3 fl oz & Nexxus Humectress Ultimate Moisture Conditioner – 3 fl oz
Retail: $6.98
“Exclusive Protein fusion blend with Elastin Protein and Green Caviar cleanses and rebalances hair by rebuilding broken bonds and replenishing nutrients.”
I haven’t used this shampoo yet since I plan to add this and the conditioner to my travel bag. I was in need of new travel-sized hygiene products and figured these will work for now.
Schmidt’s Rose & Black Pepper Natural Deodorant – 2.65 oz
Retail: $7.99
“Enriched with hemp seed oil for sensitive skin, this luxurious, long-lasting scent neutralizes odor and keeps you feeling fresh and smelling delicious—all day long.”
Black pepper and rose deodorant? I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t thrilled about getting this product in the box and had planned on donating it. That being said, after smelling it I was kind of intrigued. I have been wanting to switch to a natural deodorant for some time but I hadn’t gotten around to trying any out. So I figured I would give it a go. I ended up really liking this product and can say I will be buying it again in the future!
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Unscented Refreshing Dry Shampoo – 1.6 oz
Retail $2.69
“Unscented formula refreshes strands and instantly absorbs oil and odor so day-old hair looks lush and full of life.”
I love testing out new dry shampoos. And Not Your Mother’s is a brand that I’m already a bit familiar with. Having tried their products in the past I figured I would end up liking this product. The first thing I noticed about this shampoo was that it is unscented. For most people that is probably not a perk, however as someone that suffers from migraines, I do like to see unscented options. While there wasn’t an overwhelming scent, I would liken it to what most hairspray smells like. The spray did a great job absorbing excess oil and there was no residue left behind. Overall, it is a good option for dry shampoo.
OGX Refresh & Restore + Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo – 1.75 oz
Retail: $3.99
“This dry shampoo, infused with coconut oil, essence of tiare, and vanilla bean extract helps absorb oil, extend your style, and revive your strands, leaving hair smelling irresistible and feeling fresh between washes!”
OGX is another brand that I have used in the past and really like. Their shampoos are some of my favorites. As mentioned above I do suffer from migraines, typically onset my floral scents. I noticed this dry shampoo was a vanilla scent so knew it would be ok to use. As expected I am in love with this dry shampoo and will be buying it in the future! The spray went on very evenly and didn’t leave any residue. I give OGX bonus points for the amazing volume I got when using this shampoo!
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser For use on Combination Skin Normal to Oily Skin Types – 1 fl oz
Retail: $2.99
“Low-foaming formula gently yet effectively removes surface oils, dirt and makeup—without stripping skin.”
This past month I have been busy getting my skincare to a place I’m comfortable. Since I have a pretty good routine, for now, I didn’t want to mess anything up by trying new cleansers. For now, I’m setting this product aside. I think it will be good to have in my travel bag.
Overall
This box was a huge win for me. At a cost of only $7 (and no shipping charge), the products have a retail value of $28.13! That is impressive. Plus, I will end up using each and every item, so there is no waste. And I was happy to try a few products that I have been curious about. With the theme of this box being a travel box, they included the perfect items. I did think it was a little weird that they included two different dry shampoos, but being that I use dry shampoo on a weekly basis I’m not going to complain. There is no doubt that I will be getting more Target Beauty Boxes in the future. I will be sure to keep an eye out on their upcoming products and buy the boxes that apply to my life!
