July 2020 – Self Care

This month The Gifter Box is themed “Self Care”.   I’m a huge advocate for self-care and constantly remind myself to take time to fill my own cup.  Even though I know how important it is, I still tend to fill my cup last, after caring for everyone else.  Most of the time it isn’t conscious, however lately I’ve noticed that I don’t feel like I have ideas on how to care for myself while also being confined to home.  My typical self-care routine of heading out for a pedicure won’t work in the COVID days and I was in need of some at-home products to help me unwind.  So this month’s box was much anticipated since I knew it would bring me some products and ideas for getting back to taking care of numero uno.   Let’s dive in.

Each month The Gifter Box includes a small gift bag, which makes it incredibly easy to pack up a few items for gifting to someone special.  This month the bag was teal with silver stars and will make a super cute gift.  Now all I need to do is pick some products to add and drop it off to a friend.  I really like that this box is centered on the idea that the subscriber will be sharing the items.  Gifting is one way that I show people I love them and it couldn’t be easier than this.

Ped I Cure, Paperback – Retail Value: $13.99

Reading is one of my favorite ways to unwind.  Getting lost in a good book is an easy way to relax.  So I was really excited to see a book in this month’s box.  Ped I Cure was a quick read, I actually finished it in just three evenings.  It wasn’t the type of book I would normally reach for, but I ended up liking it quite a bit.  Without spoiling too much, I can say that some of the woman’s stories mirrored parts of my life and it felt like they were speaking directly to me at times.  As I have been home the past months, I have really been focused on my mental health and this was a perfect book to help me with that.  Now that I have read it, I will be sure to pass it along to a friend.

Sugar Scrub, Purple Vertigo Candles – Retail Value: $14.00

Applying a sugar scrub is a sure way to put me in a good mood.  First, the act of applying and massaging it into my skin is so relaxing.  And then once it is washed away my skin looks and feels like a goddess.  I know someone that would love to be gifted with a new scrub, so I decided to put this aside for her.  I did however test a small bit on my hands and really loved this product.  The texture is thicker than I expected, and it goes on very nicely.  My hands thanked me.

Refresh Milk Bath, Indigo Bath & Body – Retail Value: $12.00

Oh my lanta, this product is amazing.  I never knew I needed this milk bath in my life until now.  But now that I have it, I will need to order more.  To be honest, I nearly gifted this item but figured I would step outside my comfort zone and give it a try.  I’m not much of a bath person, so decided to use it for a foot soak.  Not only is the scent incredibly calming, but the blend of coconut milk and essential oils also helped transform my feet.  Since I only use a small amount for a foot soak, I’m able to get at least six uses out of it too.  I have decided that I will use this product as a weekly treat for my feet.  It has been so nice to smell the calming aroma, massage my legs while my feet soak, and really just giving me a few minutes to myself each week.  This was my favorite item in the box!

Retinol Face Balm, Divine & Sexy – Retail Value: $10.00

Lately, I have been diving into skincare and trying to add missing products to my routine.  Retinol was one product that I kept reading about that I wanted to try to help smooth my skin texture.  I added this balm to my nightly routine and am excited to see if it makes a difference.  It will take some time to really notice a difference, but so far I think it is helping.  My skin has been glowing this week and I feel like it has smoothed out.  I really appreciated the tube design, which made the retinol extremely easy to apply.

Nail & Cuticle Oil, Hued Shoppe – Retail Value: $7.50

Cuticle Oil is such a nice treat to find in this month’s box.  Since I already have one on hand, I decided to add this to the gift bag.  The glass roll-on bottle is as classy as it is functional and I know it will make a great gift.  Here is a bit of information from the Hued Shoppe website on this product:

“Our Organic Herbal Nail & Cuticle Oil is carefully crafted to nourish, soothe and soften chapped cuticles. Made with a base of 5 Organic Herbs infused in Organic Avocado Oil, our nourishing nail oil is multi-purpose, and great for head-to-toe application. Our moisturizing oil for cracked cuticles comes in a re-usable glass roll-on bottle for mess-free application on the go.”

Vanilla Noir Roll Ball, Wicked Good – Retail Value: $16.95

Ok, I know I already said that the Milk Bath was my favorite, BUT, this perfume is a close second.  The smell is intoxicating.  I have always loved vanilla scented perfumes, but as I’ve gotten older I wanted to find one that is more grown-up.  This is that grown-up perfume I have longed for!  I had to check out the Wicked Good website to see what was in this amazing scent.  On top of the marvelous smell, I learned that it is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, phthalate-free, and non-toxic!  The Gifter Box also included a $10 gift card to use at Wicked Good and I will be putting that to good use.  I noticed there were some other scents that I want to try as well.  Do yourself a favor and head to their website to check out all they have to offer!

“A hypnotic blend of dark vanilla bean, black amber and exotic spices. Our perfumers used their art to transform Madagascar vanilla into a pure glamorous perfume made of dark vanilla beans, black plum, bergamot and dark, seductive musk.  Exotic dark berries and bergamot which tingles your imagination. A heart blossoms with silky gardenia, carnation, vanilla-orchid and tuberose while base notes incorporate vanilla beans, vanilla extract, toffee, cinnamon sticks, cashmeran, sandalwood and sensual musk.  Wicked Good creates clean consciously crafted fragrances that embrace the centuries-old craft of bourbon perfumeries but with a bold, modern sensibility + a touch of whimsical magic.”

Hand Sanitizer, Mix-O-Logie – Retail Value: $5.00

During these trying times, hand sanitizer is king!  This travel-sized bottle is the perfect item to keep in my purse.  It has a nice consistency and doesn’t have a strong scent.  I also noticed that my hands were left smooth after using this sanitizer, which is a pleasant surprise.  What a wonderful addition to The Gifter Box!

Happy Herbal Tea, Vana Tisanes – Retail Value: $7.00

As much as I love tea, I decided to add this to the gift bag.  The packaging is so beautiful, that I thought it would make an excellent addition to the gift.  I really like the idea behind the tea, and know someone that would really appreciate it.  Using herbs as a mood boost is fairly new to me, but I have recently started researching the science behind it and am very interested in the possibilities.  The Vana Tisanes website describes this tea:

“There are plenty of reasons to be happy, why not try it from a cup? Our Happy blend contains herbs that are known to have sedative healing effects that promote anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties in the body. The herbs in Happy help with emotional stability, allow for better rest, and instills a sense of well being. Along with calming the central nervous system, this blend contains powerful adaptogens that normalize body functions, including the functions of the brain. Enjoy a cup of Happy and smile!”

Greeting Cards – Retail Value: $3.50/each

The Gifter Box is how easy they make it to tell others that I’m thinking of them.  They include cards that are suitable for each month.  Just seeing the cards is enough to prompt me to send them out to those I love.  The handmade Thank You card included this month was so beautiful.  It’s little details like these cards that makes me love The Gifter Box even more!

I Will Be Me, Jagged Touch Studio – Retail Value: $5.50

Jagged Touch Studio cards have been featured in The Gifter Box before.  This month their, “I Will Be Me” card made me smile.  While deep in self-care this month and focusing on positive affirmations has been at the top of my mind, this card was received at a perfect time.  I know someone that can use these affirmations and I am honored to send it to her.

Overall

The Gifter Box went above and beyond with the July box.  I was really happy to see that they stuck with the Self Care theme throughout the whole box.  Each item was carefully curated to help the subscriber take time to not only fill their cup but overflow it.  The box was so packed that I could also share some fabulous products with a loved one.  Another thing that I always love about The Gifter Box is the fact that they source from small businesses.  They have introduced me to some of my new favorite products from businesses I had never heard of.  This box really is a win-win-win and I can’t wait to see their August box.
