I was pleasantly surprised at how early this box came in the mail this month! I’m definitely not complaining though, and I believe that there was a shipping delay last month so that probably explains why. This month’s theme is ‘Breaking the Ice’.

I was anxious to see what came in January’s box because I have read some mixed reviews online regarding this month’s box. However, I was so stoked the second I opened mine up!

My box was full of some great items and fortunately, there were only a few that wasn’t a total hit for me. Let’s go through what products were sent to me this month.

Too Faced, Palm Springs Dream Cocktail Party Eye Shadow Palette – Retail Value $45.00

The second I saw this as a possible spoiler in the box, I was really REALLY hoping that I would receive this palette and I did! Too Faced is one of my favorite luxury makeup brands and I happen to like so many of their palettes. The colors in this particular palette are so bright and fun looking. I’m not sure if it’s something I would normally splurge on since a lot of the shades are ones I cannot necessarily use on a daily basis so I was beyond thrilled to have this show up in my box.

So far I have been loving how well the shadows perform. The pigments go on super smooth and are very easy to blend. I’m a huge fan of the ‘Dirty Martini’ shade. It is so bright and shimmery, as well as ‘Swank’.

Tula Skincare, Keep it Clear Acne Foam Cleanser – Retail Value $34.00

This product could not have come at a more perfect time for me. I’ve been battling random outbreaks on my skin for what feels like weeks now. I’m sort of perplexed by it considering I haven’t made any major changes to my skincare routine, and I’m very diligent with washing my face.  Oh well, I guess it’s just one of those things out of my control. I’ve used this for a few days now and so far my skin appears to be looking a bit better. My only complaint about this product is the smell is so strong. However, it contains salicylic acid which is meant to clear acne so that’s not surprising. I will continue using this bottle and if it appears to really help, I’ll definitely repurchase.

Farsali, Liquid Glass Radiance Serum – Retail Value $54.00

This was another product I was so happy to have in my box! I have always wanted to try a face serum by Farsali but, I can’t really justify the price. I’ve heard other beauty gurus mention it’s a really great product but, it’s not really worth the price. I don’t think I could allow myself to spend that kind of money so this was an excellent treat.

My skin felt super smooth and soft after applying a couple of drops to my face. I used it as a primer and I can definitely say it looked and made my makeup feel really good on my skin!  I’ve never been able to achieve a really nice dewy look and with this I was. I can also agree that while so far I’m loving this serum, I’m not sure I can ever justify the price to buy it. Maybe for a special treat!

Kat Von D Beauty, Lolita Eyeshadow – Retail Price $19.00

As I mentioned in my previous month’s post, I do not support this brand but, I wanted to mention for the sake of the review that this was in my box. Again, I won’t go into why because I like to give others the benefit of the doubt and allow them to make their own choices but, it’s an easy Google search if you’re curious.

Bliss, Pore Patrol Mark Deep Detox Four (Clay Souffle Mask) – Retail Value $18.00

This mask felt so good on my skin! I’ve struggled with finding good masks that don’t dry out my skin or make me break out. Luckily this did neither. I plan to use this product a lot more because I loved how my skin felt the next day when I woke up.

It also wasn’t difficult to get off like some masks can be once they dry!

Billion Dollar Brows, Best Seller Kit – Retail Value $42.00

I am for sure not even close to an expert on eyebrows. I tend to stick with what I know and like but, I recall seeing the Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil at TJ Maxx before and purchased it out of sheer curiosity. One-color for most brows? How?

My experience using this previously was that the pencil was okay. The formula of it is not one I will choose over my normal brow pencil but, it definitely works pretty well. I prefer to use a brow pencil that has a smaller tip and this one is a bit bigger which I find more difficult to use since again, I’m really not that great at it.

This kit contains not only the brow pencil but, a highlighter, a smudge brush, and a brow gel. I have not had a chance to use the brow gel or the highlighter yet but, I will give it a chance. Fingers crossed I have some ‘billion-dollar brows’! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

Overall Thoughts

While this month’s MRSP was not quite as high as December’s box is, I feel that I was a little happier with this month’s products. As you know from my review above, getting the Too Faced palette was so awesome for me, as well as the Farsali serum so I could test that out. That alone made the box a huge hit for me. I also really love trying out new skincare items and BoxyCharm always seems to include some kind of high-end skincare in their Premium box so that also makes the box well worth the price I pay. For $35.00 you really can’t beat it. I know some subscribers may complain about the quality or the actual products but, in the end, it always ends up being a pretty stellar deal in my opinion.

Here is a quick recap on the pricing for the box:

  • Too Faced Palette: $45.00
  • Tula Skincare Cleanser: $34.00
  • Farsali Face Serum: $54.00
  • Kat Von D Shadow: $19.00
