This review is of the final box in the Dispatch Kids series.  When we ended Part II, we had figured out who had Johnny’s coin and where he was headed to next! In this box, we attempt to catch up to Mr. Wallace and his ice cream truck to finally get the coin back in Johnny’s hand.  As mentioned, my son couldn’t wait to start this box and had the contents pulled out minutes after solving Parts I & II.

Included in the box was a helpful checklist to make sure you have all the clues to solve the box.  That is incredibly helpful for my son and me since right off the bat it got us familiar with the contents of the box.

One item in the box that I think I enjoyed more than my son was the Safari Pass.  He thought it was cool but quickly pushed it aside to look for clues.  I really liked the high-quality materials it was made from since it will last a long time for other pretend play.

Just like the previous boxes we were given a map to mark clues and follow leads.

This time around Dispatch Kids included stickers as well.  We will use these later to mark the Zoo Safari Route on the map.

Another part of these boxes that my son always looks forward to is the use of our laptop.  For Part III he used it to solve puzzles to figure out which route the ice cream truck was taking through the zoo.  See our screenshots below for a sample of one of the puzzles that my son needed to solve before moving on to the next steps.

As he completed the online puzzles, he was excited to mark the map with the stickers.  My son had a great time adding these stickers to his map.  He let me know multiple times that was his favorite part of this box.

Once we knew which animal the ice cream truck was parked by, we quickly went back online to try to talk to Mr. Wallace.  Note: I purposely didn’t include the entire picture of the “find the coin” screenshot since that would ruin the fun for some readers.   After my son found the coin it took us to a screen to enter our address.  A special gift is coming our way!  Now that is exciting.  However, after waiting for about 2 months we didn’t receive anything.  I’m thinking that since we are reviewing the box and not paying subscribers, we don’t qualify to receive it.  Therefore I can’t speak to what it might be, but I would assume it may be a coin.

Lastly, we went through the flashcards together and there was a lot of great information on them! They had us practicing letters as well as pretending to be animals by making their motions.  These cards had as giggling at each other for a while.

Overall

After three amazing boxes, we found Johnny’s long lost coin!  This was an incredibly exciting series of activities and my son thoroughly enjoyed every puzzle along the way.  It was great to see him engaged for the entire duration of each box.  And watching him as he solved each puzzle had him (and me) beaming with pride.  My favorite part was the time we spent bonding while we completed the boxes.  His favorite part was, of course, using the laptop to help solve the clues and hearing the character’s voices on the messages.  I would highly suggest this series for anyone that is looking for a new kids’ subscription box. The series also would be a fun and educational gift for any child on your list!
