A full year into this pandemic has really proved to me how important it is to keep my mind busy.  I have phased between TikTok, making banana bread, reading, knitting, gardening, and binge-watching seasons of shows that I never had time for before.  However, after a year, I was looking for something a little different.  Finders Seekers offers an interesting solution with their mystery subscription box.  Much like an escape room, only subscribers get to complete the adventure from the comfort of their home.

Keep in mind that I won’t be posting everything the box has to offer because I don’t want to spoil it for everyone.  Our mystery was based on finding the fortune left behind by a recently deceased man that was to help save a National Park in Alaska.  I completed this mystery with my husband and 7-year-old son this past weekend.   We started by spreading out all of our clues onto a flat surface, so we could exam the evidence.

We noticed that a letter was marked with START HERE, so we all agreed that would be a wise place to begin our adventure.  After we read the letter we skimmed the  ‘For My Legacy’ sheet to decide what our next steps would be.

Our classified envelope also included ten National Park Posters that are artistic enough to frame, however on the back they all contained some necessary clues to fill in the ‘For My Legacy’ worksheet.

We decided it would be best to try to start at the top of the worksheet and work our way down.  Therefore we started at Arches National Park in beautiful Utah!  Once we noticed the ‘MU’ card taped to the back of this poster, we knew just what we needed to do with the rest of the cards that we found in our envelope.  At first, we were lost and couldn’t get a message unscrambled…that was until my son found an extra card stuck inside the envelope.  He saved the day and we were able to add the decoded message to the worksheet.

Next, we headed to the Great Smoky Mountains.  Armed with our postcard and a blank piece of paper my son started trying to unscramble the jumbled letters.  However, once we all noticed that it was double-sided, we made quick work of filling in the blank.  The secret message encouraged us to use our flashlight, which gave us the next clues to add to our worksheet.  It was getting exciting to fill in some blanks and get one step closer to solving the mystery.

We continued our journey of searching each National Park poster for more clues.  Each park brought us new puzzles to solve.  Some were extremely challenging and ones that we had to come back to several times before uncovering the conundrum.  Others we seemed to breeze through.  But in the end, we finished our worksheet and were ready for the next step in our adventure.  I also want to add that there are hints available if you need to use them, which came in handy a few times.  The below photo gallery will give you a better idea of the puzzles we needed to solve, but BEWARE, the pictures may include some spoilers…

Aligning our decoded messages on the ‘For My Legacy’ worksheet with the Night Stars paper, we were able to let the stars lead us to victory.

Overall

Talk about a fun family game night, or in our case family game weekend.  This box gave us hours of exciting time together.  We worked as a family to get to the bottom of the missing fortune and solve the mystery to help save a National Park (for pretend of course).  My son loved to put on his detective hat and show us how to follow the evidence.  My husband and I liked that we got to spend some quality family time while also working our brains.  Overall, we had an excellent time and I would highly recommend Finders Seekers to anyone that is looking for a new way to spend some time at home.  Did I mention you can get your first month for 50% off?   Find the code and link below.
