DIY subscription boxes are quickly making it to the top of my favorites list.  Crafting has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember, but I really don’t like the planning stage.  So having a kit sent to my doorstep each month really is the best of both worlds.

The extra detail of adding our blog name to the side of the box was much appreciated.  The vinyl looked so professional and made me even more excited to open the box!  I noticed in an Instagram post that they added every subscriber’s name to their box too, which is nice to see that it wasn’t just for the review.

Contents

The March kit contained everything we needed to make an interchangeable sign and stand.  Yes, you read that right, INTERCHANGEABLE.  As in, you can pop out the center design and add in other inserts.  I’m thinking that will come in really handy around each holiday.  My mind was already wandering to all the cool inserts I could design.  In fact, Saltwater Crafting plans to release more inserts as add ons in the future, so that is something I will be keeping my eye on.  Then there were fun extras in the box like the saltwater taffy and the Salty Mermaid sticker.  I was happy to see that all contents were carefully packed into the box so that nothing arrived damaged.

Directions

Also included were wonderful instructions for the month’s kit and information on where to watch a full video tutorial.  I did refer to the video a few times to make sure I was on the right track.  Overall, the written instructions were very clear, I just tend to second guess myself and like the extra reassurance.

Time to Craft

I was a little hesitant to paint the base of my sign using a wet wipe since that isn’t something I’ve ever done before.  However, I dove right in and was pleasantly surprised with how easy the process was and how beautiful the base turned out.  I followed the instructions without pause the rest of the craft, they earned my trust!  Having all the supplies I needed in the box was super helpful too, when they said I needed a toothpick, I didn’t need to go hunt one down as it was already in my box.  Things like that made this craft very enjoyable.  The one suggestion I would give is to be a little careful when squeezing the paint out of the containers, the top on my brown blew right off and sprayed all over me at one point.  Thankfully I was able to move quickly enough to salvage enough paint.  But overall my crafting experience was delightful and I was able to create a really amazing piece for my home.

Overall

Again, DIY subscriptions are my jam right now.  After being at home for over a year, boxes like this really bring a smile to my face.  Getting to complete a piece that will live in my home without having to plan anything is truly priceless.  For being a newer box on the market, I would say Saltwater Crafting should be really proud of the box they have created.  The presentation was beautiful, the instructions were clear, the contents were all there and of good quality, and the craft was one that subscribers would love.  I’m really excited to see where Saltwater Crafting goes from here.  And I highly suggest you check out their box if you are a fan of crafting or DIY projects.
