Menu Choices Available

After signing up for the service, it took me a few weeks to find a menu that I thought my family would like.  Even after waiting a few weeks for the perfect menu, I still ended up picking one that I knew one of the meals wouldn’t be a great fit for my picky eaters.  The choices that were showing up weren’t terrible, they were just outside of what I thought my family would like.  I could see where most families would love all of the choices.  My husband is very specific on the meals he likes and most of the ones on the menus weren’t something we would even try.  The one I figured would be a miss for him, “Honey-Hoisin Glazed Chicken and Carrot Ginger Puree”, was too sweet for his liking.

Quality of Items

The box came well packed with meats separated and well iced.  All the ingredients arrived fresh and neatly separated and ready for me to use.

The only thing I noticed when unboxing was that they had subbed chicken for a dish that I had picked pork tenderloin for.   I reached out to Gobble to ask what happened and was told there was a supply shortage and they had sent me an email.  I can’t find the said email but, the email that I did get from them the night before delivery had stated it was a pork dish.  Either way, I wasn’t that upset so I rolled with it.

Ease of Preparation

Each meal was super easy to prepare and took me about 15-20 minutes from start to finish.  This was my favorite part about Gobble!  As a working Mom, this made my nights so much easier and I was able to spend that much more time playing with my 5-year-old son.  I also liked that the meals only used a few dishes to prepare and cook, so there was less clean up than I’m used to.

Portion Size

One portion of the Pan-Seared Chicken Breast

Typically on meal subscriptions, I bump up to the 4 servings level since I have a hungry husband and son at home.  This time around I stuck to 2 portions since I wasn’t sure either of them would even like the meals that I picked out.  The side dish portions were enough to feed all three of us and in some cases have leftovers.  The protein sizes were a bit too small to share though so I ended up adding extra shrimps and chicken to the meals to bulk it up a bit.   I would say if you have hungry eaters, definitely bump up on your order for servings otherwise be prepared to have extra proteins on hand to add in.

Overall

The price is right, the ingredients are fresh, and the preparation is a breeze.  I can’t get over the 15-minute prep and cook time of this box.  Time is so precious and this box gets that. The only thing holding me back from making this a monthly subscription is the menu choices available during the weeks after I signed up.  I will keep my account active and skip weeks until I find ones that are the perfect match for my family.  While I can’t justify getting any meal subscription box weekly, I like to order one every few months to shake up our dinner routine.
