The first thing that caught my eye was the unique way that Kekao packaged the bars in a burlap sack.  I thought it looked really neat and it really set a tone for the earthy vibe of some of the bars that were included in this month’s box.

Included in the burlap sack was also a card with information on why dark chocolate is such a great choice.  I have been on a bit of a dark chocolate kick lately so I was happy to read that I’m actually doing something good for my body by reaching for the darker bars versus milk chocolate.

Posh Chocolat – Dark Chocolate Crushed Brazillian Coffee Beans – Retail Value $4.99

Combining two of my favorite things is a sure way to win.  This chocolate bar had an amazing coffee flavor that I fell in love with!  I ended up saving half for my husband since I knew he would share my excitement for the heavenly mashup.  I was right, he texted me the next day to tell me how delicious it was and to ask me to order some more!  While reviewing the website I noticed several other flavors I think we will both fancy.

Holy Cacao – 70% – Estimated Retail Value: $8.37

There wasn’t much flavor to this particular chocolate bar.  The pieces themselves were incredibly thick so even the small squares seemed a tad too big to eat at once.  The chocolate itself was very smooth, which I know a lot of people do like.  Personally, I prefer my bars with a bit of texture or crunch added in.  I wouldn’t say that this bar wasn’t tasty, it was just my least favorite in the box.

Original Beans – Cru Udzungwa 70% – Retail Value: $5.54

This was my favorite bar for a few reasons.  First, the packaging was perfection with information on how buying their chocolate helps the environment.  Second, their chocolate had a great taste to it.  I really liked the texture of the beans.  Lastly, take a look at the foil packaging that the bar came in.  I have never seen this statement on a foil wrapper before and I love that from start to finish Original Beans is making a difference with their products!

Domori – Criollo 70% – Retail Value: $7.28

While this was the smallest product in this month’s Kekao Box, it packed some major flavor.  I tasted some almond hints in there which I am always a fan of.  But, what I liked most about this bar was the snap.  It had a great firm bite to it that I really liked.

Overall

From the packaging to the companies represented in this month’s box, I was very pleased!  If you like dark chocolate, this is a fabulous box to check out.  The monthly cost is in line with what you would pay for each of these chocolate bars.  However, some of this month’s products ship from overseas, so you would be paying quite a bit in the shipping charges to be able to try them.  I always like when subscription boxes bring you items that you can’t find in the store since that is part of the fun of getting your monthly boxes.
