Fit Bru, Vanilla Latte – Retail Value $4.49

One of the stereotypes of Seattleite is that we all love coffee.  And while I love to prove stereotypes wrong, I do in fact love coffee.  I was more than excited to get to try this cold brew coffee in this month’s My Athlete Box.  So you can imagine my dismay when I went to grab it and found out that my husband had already guzzled it down thinking I bought him a treat.  The following are his opinions since I wasn’t able to try this product:

It wasn’t what I was expecting, I thought it would be like an iced vanilla latte, but it was more like cold drip coffee without milk.  The product wasn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t buy it in the future.  I did notice the boost of energy I was looking for though, which is a plus.

Skout, Organic Plant Based Protein Bar – Retail Value: $2.79

I am somewhat familiar with the Skout brand, as I tried their organic pumpkin seeds in a past Sugar Smart Box that I reviewed.  I really loved the seeds so was excited to taste test this protein bar.  The main flavors that I detected were the pumpkin seeds and dates.  However, the aftertaste did have a hint of chocoalte and salt.  To me, it tasted like the seeds crunched up and molded into a bar with dates to hold it’s shape.  And I loved it!  I noticed Skout has a few other flavors that I might try in the future, including a peanut butter one.

Wonderful Pistachios – Retail Value: $0.62

Not sure how much I can type about pistachios.  I love having nuts handy in the car for between activities so this was the perfect treat to tuck away.  They will come in convenient in a pinch when we embark on one of our upcoming road trips.

IQ Bar, Lemon Blueberry – Retail Value: $2.08

Pulling this bar out of the package was harder than I thought it would be due to the surface being very sticky.  I wasn’t sure I would like it based off that, however, I have to admit this bar is delicious!  The real blueberries and real lemon were a welcomed treat.  The thick texture was really good and left me satisfied.  These bars are a must try!

Nush, Blueberry Cake – Retail Value: $2.99

I have tried Nush many times in the past and have never really understood why the reviews are so good on them.  The smell and texture are always spot on, however, normally there is a terrible aftertaste with the cakes.  I decided to try this one more time, for the sake of the review.  I’m not sure if they switched their formula or if my tastebuds have changed dramatically, but this blueberry cake was amazing.  I did still notice a slight aftertaste, but it wasn’t overwhelming as it had been in the past.  So soft and chewy, the perfect breakfast to enjoy with my coffee.  This cake tasted just like a blueberry muffin, I actually wanted another one. Glad to finally jump on this wagon after disliking these treats for almost a year.

Health Warrior Chia Bar, Chocolate Peanut Butter – Retail Value: $1.20

I have been on a chia seed kick lately so I was happy to try this little bar.  With only 100 calories in the bar, I wasn’t expecting to get full from it. However, I was able to slowly enjoy the snack with a cup of tea and it kept be full for a few hours.  While I did notice the peanut butter taste, the chocolate flavor was lacking a bit.  Even still, I enjoyed this product and will order more for purse snacks.

Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar, Blueberry – Retail Value: $1.00

Even though this bar is on the higher end of what I eat in carbs, I wanted to give it a try since I happen to love figs.  It was worth the “cheat”.  So chewy and fresh.  I loved the whole wheat taste of the outside.  I will be getting some of these for my pantry since I think my husband and son will love them as well.

Duckish Mint Lip Balm – Retail Value: $3.99

I didn’t open this lip balm yet since I have an abundance of open ones at the moment.  Since mint is one of my favorite scents for balm, I’ll be keeping this in my closet until I use (aka lose) all of my other ones.

“Cardio is Hardio” Decal – Retail Value: $5.00

I have been collecting the decals I get from subscription boxes and placing them around my blogging workspace.  I was excited to add this one to the collection.  I had a rough time getting the decal off the protector sheet though and ended up having to toss it.  It is a super cute saying, one I would like to see on a tank top or t-shirt to work out in.

Sincerely Different – Bath Bomb – Retail Value: $5

I love to use bath bombs to soak my feet at the end of a long week, so I’m always happy to get new ones in subscription boxes.  This is a great product to include in a fitness box since it helps me relax my muscles.  The scent of this one is grapefruit/tangerine, which was very summery!

Overall

For a little package, this month’s Slim FIt was packed to the brim with healthy snacks and other fun surprises.  I am blown away by the level of value this month brought.  I know MAB has been working hard on the curation of their boxes and it shows.  I especially liked that this month included a lot of snacks that I could enjoy while still leading a low carb life.   Sometimes fitness boxes leave the low carb people disenfranchised with the food items that they can’t enjoy.  But not My Athlete Box, they had me covered and ready to tackle my fitness goals this month.
